Why Don't You Write Me
Simon & Garfunkel Lyrics

Why don't you write me
I'm out in the jungle
I'm hungry to hear you.

Send me a card,
I am waiting so hard
To be near you.

(La, la, la)
Why don't you write?

Something is wrong
And I know I got to be there.
Maybe I'm lost,
But I can't make the cost
Of the airfare, ooh

Tell me why (Why)
Tell me why (Why)

Why don't you write me,
A letter would brighten
My loneliest evening.

Mail it today
If it's only to say
That you're leaving me.
(La, la, la)

Monday morning, sitting in the sun
Hoping and wishing for the mail to come.
Tuesday, never got a word,
Hm
Wednesday, Thursday, ain't no sign,
Drank a half a bottle of iodine.
Friday, woe is me
Gonna hang my body from the highest tree.
Why don't you write me?
Why don't you write me?
Why don't you write me?
Why don't you write me?
Why don't you write me?
Why don't you write me?
Why don't you write me?

I can't believe Art Garfunkel couldn't ... or didn't hear the pain Paul Simon was expressing in this song. Did he really believe this was about some CHICK? No, it was about Garfunkel's abandoning their partnership. Shame on him for not seeing this and doing SOMETHING to repair their partnership.

From what I understand Paul Simon is the one who broke the band up, but you're right about this song. Actually the whole album Bridge Over Troubled Water was about Art filming that movie Catch-22 instead of being in New York with Paul helping him make this album.

I din't realize it's an S&G song. I used to hear this when i was 9 yrs old from my sister's favorite radio station.

I love this funky little tune and that horn. So much fun.

Tyrone Epps

This song great !

PooDot StinkPants

If you cover Simon's face with your fingers... Garfunkel has an epic handlebar moustache (or a very long unique beard).

Yo Boho

Amazing!

Seattle Day

Yeh your right on that one.
