I woke up on the wrong side
I started my day on a bad note

The way I feel is groundless
My emotions are not based on any logic or reason

But nobody ever dances these days
People are not happy or carefree like before

Time is not affected by personal opinions

I took time out to be polite
I allowed someone to take up my time for the sake of politeness

They arrested me for forgery
I got punished even for doing the right thing

Because I got it right
I followed the rules correctly and truthfully

And I might be in prison
I may end up being punished for doing what's right

Where they tally time with chalk
Prison makes time feel like punishment

Because nobody follows the birds these days
People do not follow the signs that nature gives them

Everyone would rather walk
People would rather take easier paths than follow the difficult ones

The leaves are doing somersaults
The leaves are playful with the changing seasons

Since summer's hair went gray
Summer is fading and autumn is coming

They look for any reason at all
The leaves are ready for change

To bow their heads and blow away
The leaves are surrendering to the changing times

And I brought along the evidence
I carry proof of my experiences

This camera behind my eyes
My memories are captured in my mind

But everyone needs documentation these days
People need proof to believe anything

Nobody is reading minds
No one has a deep understanding of others anymore

A bluebird ate a spider
Nature takes its course regardless of our existence

All the worms stayed underground
The worms are grounded during the bird's feeding time

And I once loved a woman
I had feelings for a woman once

Who never made a sound
She didn't talk much, maybe indicating she was not interested

And it might have been for always
Our love could have been eternal

But luckily it rained
It was fortunate that the rain came and changed things

Because nobody has any patience these days
People are not willing to wait for things anymore

We all want something in between
People want everything to be convenient and easy.

I know an aging doctor
I know a doctor who is getting old

I let him read my chart
I allowed him to read my medical document

Then he shined a light right through me
The doctor saw right through me

And it came out question marks
The doctor's diagnosis was unclear or confusing

And then he shrugged his shoulders and said
The doctor showed helplessness towards my problem

Go forth and run and hide
There is no easy way out of this problem

But you're just like all the others I've seen
You are the same as everyone else with this problem

A skeleton inside
Despite our differences, we all have the same structure on the inside

I saw my friends jump overboard
I watched as my friends took a leap of faith

The ship forgot to look
The situation was not what the people in charge of the situation thought it was

Then the passengers got out their microscopes
People started looking more closely at what was happening

To see just who the water took
People wanted to see who was affected by the situation

And I would pledge allegiance
I would support or be loyal to the right thing

To that lifeboat on the sea
I would support the thing that will help in the situation

But everyone wants to be dead these days
People do not want to face or solve their problems

Or else they want to be free
People want an easy way out of their problems
