Can't keep the sun from shining down
And I can't make you stay
You feel your world is undefined
You feel that what you need is time
Open up your wings and find your way
And I won't try to hold you back
[Chorus]
I'll be your sanctuary
Be the last one left here standing
If you're feelin' all alone
When the world feels so temporary
And you think there's such a long
Long way to go
You're all ready home
You're home
You might be somewhere flyin' free
The same sky is watching over me
Close your eyes and look around
What ever ocean that you cross
Thought you many drift you're never lost
And I will be your solid ground
Cause I know that inside my heart
Gonna get back to where we started
[Chorus]
You're already here in my arms
The way that you are tonight
Just give me till mornin' comes
It's gonna be all right [repeat]
I'll (Sanctuary)
I'll I
[Repeat]
[Chorus]
In Simon Webbe's song "Sanctuary," the singer expresses his desire to be the sanctuary for someone who feels lost or alone. He uses metaphors to illustrate his point, saying that just as he cannot keep a flower underground or the sun from shining down, he cannot make the person he cares about stay. The singer encourages them to open up their wings and find their way, while assuring them that he won't hold them back. He wants to be their solid ground and hopes that they know that he will be there for them.
The chorus emphasizes the singer's message of being a sanctuary for someone who is struggling in life. He promises to be the last one left standing and to be there for them when they feel all alone. He tells them that while the world may feel temporary and it may seem like there is a long way to go, they are already home in his embrace. He wants them to know that they're not lost, no matter what ocean they cross.
Overall, "Sanctuary" is a song about being there for someone you care about when they need you the most. It's a message of hope and support, emphasizing that no matter how difficult things may seem, there is always someone who is willing to be a haven in the storm.
