Kopmajer grew up in a family of musicians and began singing in her father's band when she was 12. At the same time she studied piano, though singing remained her first love. Early on, she entered and won various talent contests and even made appearances on television in her native country, Austria. As a young performer, she twice toured the Netherlands with the “Euro Big Band” and later appeared in several international jazz festivals.
Influenced by some of the great American vocalists like Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and Jon Hendricks, Kopmajer has developed into a true jazz singer who uses a wide variety of rhythms and excels in her very individual style of scatting.
Kopmajer received her Masters Degree from the University for Music and Dramatic Arts in Graz, Austria where she had the opportunity to work with such jazz luminaries as Mark Murphy, Sheila Jordan, Michele Hendricks, Jay Clayton, and the New York Voices.

Didn't You Say
Simone Kopmajer Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You'd take me down to Mexico,
San Antonio
Or over to the Sunshine State?
Didn′t you say
You'd take me where the wild geese go,
To Ontario
North or south
Doesn't really matter
Just as long
As we can be together
You and I
Baby, we can reach the sky
Deep inside
I think I′ve known it all along
And I wasn′t wrong
To say, "You are all talk".
Didn't you say
You′d take me down to Mexico,
San Antonio
Or over to the Sunshine State?
Didn't you say
You′d take me where the wild geese go,
To Ontario
And on to Niagara Falls?
North or south
Doesn't really matter
Just as long
As we can be together
You and I
Baby, we can reach the sky
Deep inside
I think I′ve known it all along
And I wasn't wrong
To say, "You are all talk".
"You are all talk"
Baby, "You are all talk"
The lyrics to Simone Kopmajer's song "Didn't You Say" tell the story of a promised adventure that never came to fruition. The singer is recalling promises made by someone to take her on trips to Mexico, San Antonio, the Sunshine State, Ontario, and Niagara Falls. Despite repeated assurances, nothing ever came of these grand plans, leading the singer to ultimately accuse their companion of being "all talk" and never following through on their promises. The lyrics also reveal that the singer has known all along that these trips were never going to happen, but held onto hope nonetheless.
The song captures the feelings of disappointment and betrayal that can result from broken promises and unfulfilled expectations. The use of specific locations such as Mexico and Niagara Falls adds to the vivid imagery of the song. The repetition of the chorus emphasizes the importance of the promised trips and highlights the letdown when they never materialized. The final line of the song, "Baby, you are all talk," is a fitting finale that emphasizes the singer's frustration.

Spotlights - Simone Kopmajer - Lyrics
It’s alright, sit for a while.
It’s alright, give me a smile.
It can’t be all that bad,
Though the sun don’t shine.
Tell me, how did it all start?
Tell me, how he broke your heart!
It can’t be all that bad,
Though you’re sittin’ in the dark.
Well, Mama said, he’d do me wrong.
Papa said, “Let him be”.
But you know I'm so headstrong
And now there’s nothing that can comfort me.
It’s alright, it won’t be long.
Time will bring a happier song.
Let the sun refuse to shine -
Just turn the spotlights on.
