Simple Minds Lyrics

You know they're walking at night
Ohh in the dark you know
They're shining out so bright
Your sarky voices are gonna come on so near
As every picture becomes so clear
You
Yet be so nice
Tell me that you're so hot
But you're as cold as ice
There is no cure
You're so blind can't you see?
There is no cure
Can't buy no immunity
There is no cure
So keep your evil from me
There is no cure.
They like to stay
Ooh come on
Come on and stay up so late
You gonna talk of all the things you just want to hate
You want to come on
Come on
And make me so mad
Inside your heart
I know it feels so bad
You
You come on so sharp
Yet be so nice
Tell me that you're so hot
But you're as cold as ice
There is no cure
You're so blind can't you see?
There is no cure
Can't buy immunity
There is no cure
So keep your evil from me
There is no cure
Come on and do it
Just what to do it
They're going to do it
Just want to do it
There is no cure
The song "No Cure" by Simple Minds addresses the idea of toxicity and negativity that is present in certain individuals. The first verse sets the stage for the rest of the song, talking about how these people are always present and causing trouble, yet they are shining so bright that they are impossible to miss. As the song progresses, it becomes more and more obvious that these people are not just annoying, but they are actively trying to bring down those around them. The chorus "There is no cure" becomes more important as the song progresses, indicating that these people are beyond help and that the only solution is to stay away from them.
The second verse is particularly poignant, highlighting the hypocrisy of these negative people. They act sharp and impressive, but ultimately, they are just as cold and distant as they appear. The bridge between the two verses shows that these negative people love to stay up late, wallowing in their misery and talking about all the things they hate. They actively try to make those around them feel bad and feed off of the negative energy that they can generate. The song ultimately suggests that there is no cure for this kind of toxicity and that the best solution is to stay away from these people.
Overall, "No Cure" takes a brutally honest look at some of the less desirable parts of human nature. It suggests that while it might be difficult, distance is sometimes necessary to protect oneself from those who can't help but be negative.
