Walking in the soft rain, calling out my name
See me burning slow
Brilliant days
Wake up on brilliant days
Shadows of brilliant ways will change all the time
Memories
Gold of day memories change me in these times
Somewhere there is some place
That one million eyes can't see
And somewhere there is someone
Who can see what I can see?
Someone, somewhere in summertime
Someone, somewhere in summertime
Someone, somewhere in summertime
Someone, somewhere in summertime
Stay, I'm burning slow, with me in the rain
Walking in the soft rain, calling out my name
See me burning slow
Moments burn, slow burning golden nights
Once more see city lights, holding candles to the flame
Brilliant days, wake up on brilliant days
Shadows of brilliant ways will change me all the time
Somewhere there is some place
That one million eyes can't see
And somewhere there is someone
Who can see what I can see?
Someone, somewhere in summertime
Someone, somewhere in summertime
Someone, somewhere in summertime
Someone, somewhere in summertime
Someone, somewhere in summertime
Someone, somewhere in summertime
Someone, somewhere in summertime
Someone, somewhere in summertime
The song "Someone Somewhere in Summertime" by Simple Minds captures the feeling of fleeting moments and the transience of memories that make us who we are. The lyrics are an ode to the moments that change us, the days that we will always remember, and the people who see the world the way we do. The opening lines, "Stay, I'm burning slow, with me in the rain," describe a desire to slow down and take in the world around us. The rain is a metaphor for the passage of time and the constant change that we all experience. Walking in the rain and calling out the name of someone who is not there is a poignant image that speaks to the longing for something or someone that cannot be found.
The idea of brilliant days and shadows of brilliant ways changing over time is a recurring theme in the song. Memories, like gold, are valuable and precious, but they too change over time. The lyrics suggest that we are all searching for something, some place or someone that we cannot always see. The line, "And somewhere there is someone who can see what I can see?" speaks to the idea that we are all connected in some way, and that our experiences and perspectives are not unique. The chorus repeats the phrase "Someone, somewhere in summertime" as a representation of the universal search for meaning and purpose.
Overall, the song is a beautiful and poetic exploration of the human experience and the search for understanding in a constantly changing world. The theme of fleeting moments, the transience of memory, and the longing for connection are all expertly conveyed through the thoughtful and evocative lyrics.
