Since then, while maintaining her singing career, she has occasionally encountered controversy, partly due to her statements and gestures—such as her ordination as a priest despite being a woman with a Roman Catholic background—and her strongly expressed views on organised religion, women's rights, war, and child abuse.
In addition to her ten solo albums her work includes many singles, songs for films, collaborations with many other artists and appearances at charity fundraising concerts.
Since converting to Islam in 2018 she has changed her name to Shuhada Sadaqat.
In December 2019 she gave her first UK concert in five years at the Shepherd's Bush Empire, London.
On 26 July 2023, O'Connor's family issued a statement that she had died at the age of 56, without indicating the date or cause.
In the statement, the singer’s family said: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinéad. Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time.”
The acclaimed Dublin performer released 10 studio albums, while her song “Nothing Compares 2 U” was named the number one world single in 1990 by the Billboard Music Awards. Her version of the ballad, written by musician Prince, topped the charts around the globe and earned her three Grammy nominations.

Sinéad O'Connor Lyrics

as prayers rose softly, petals at dawn
And as I listened, your voice seemed so clear
so calmly you were calling your god
Somewhere the sun rose, o'er dunes in the desert
such was the stillness, I ne'er felt before
Was this the question, pulling, pulling, pulling you
Elsewhere a snowfall, the first in the winter
covered the ground as the bells filled the air
You in your robes sang, calling, calling, calling him
in your heart, in your soul, did you find peace there?
in your heart, in your soul, did you find peace there?
The lyrics of Full Circle by Sinéad O'Connor describe the universal search for peace and answers to life's questions through different ways of worship and prayer. The opening lines set the scene of stars falling in the darkness and prayers rising softly like petals at dawn. The calmness and clarity of the voice calling to God seem to be a sign of hope and comfort for the singer. The next verse describes the stillness and serenity of a sunrise over the desert with an unanswered question pulling at her heart and soul. In the final verse, we see a snowfall - the first of winter - and the sound of bells in the air as the singer is mesmerized by the sight and sound of a person in robes singing and calling to a deity, searching for peace in their heart and soul.
In essence, the song Full Circle is a spiritual and philosophical journey exploring the different ways humans seek solace in times of uncertainty, whether it's through prayer, meditation, or rituals. Sinéad O'Connor's voice beautifully captures the yearning for inner peace and understanding that we all feel at some point in our lives.

Será a minha cantora favorita. This is such an exquisite rendition of "Full Circle". What a sweet gift it was as the "B" side of the single for "Jealous" (another beautiful, poignant song from Sinead).
