Looking back on Idol I think Siobhan is one of my top five favorites to watch every week. I'll never forget the disappointment that really the whole country felt when she was mistakenly voted off, but she handled it with grace. She could have been a big star after Idol but didn't carry through with her Idol image and maybe didn't have good management.

Siobhan got sabotaged by Simon every week. Also the week she was sent home, there was a mixup with the voting numbers on the contestant's Facebook pages where they put Aaron Kelly's number instead of Siobhans, so it's no coincidence he made it instead of her that week. Siobhan was the bright star of season 9 and should have easily won. Simon was deadset against her and wanted to ensure Lee and Crystal were in the finale. I stopped watching the show for like 3 years after her season because of how upset it got me.

Siobhan has one of the most engaging personalities I have ever seen. Matter of fact, she could probably even be a talk show host, as well as an incredible performer. Maybe you haven't seen her interviews, but she's very articulate, and.... quite funny. I can't imagine what would "annoy" you about her. Is it her beauty, her kindness, her ability to express herslef, her unbelieveable vocal range, her stage presence? Idol lost over 2.5 Million viewers the week after she was let go. 2.5 million

i can definitely feel this enigmatic aura from Siobhan because i feel like i am somebody like her. It's something psychological. And I cannot put my finger on it because I shouldn't get personal. But I don't have a good childhood and high school experience, and I always cope with that by having a strong defense. But I'm growing as a person out of that overhang. Perhaps that's what makes Siobhan coming off as strange and weird for some.

Yes, humor. Right here, on YouTube, type in Idolatry Siobhan Magnus . Each Idol got interviewed. There are 8 interviews of her. She is funny, and very entertaining. She really could be a talk show host. Very entertaining. She sure entertained the interviewer (Michael Slezak) And, you're extremely wrong about her intelligence. Just look at the lyrics of her songs on her "Moonbaby" release. She co wrote each song, except :"Nothing Compares To You". Lyrics are Brilliant !

You said that you "don't get why people love her". Because.... it's the opposite of what you said. You see, EVERYTHING is great about her. Her humor, her personality, her voice, she's stunning, she's creative, she's kind, she comes from the heart, she's unique, she's brilliant.. And that, is what is lacking in so much of what is out there today. She's the real deal! And...... maybe, just maybe... all of that is what annoys you.

People may hate simon but when you look at it, he knows what he is talking about...she is a talented singer but her notes save her...the less important parts of the song she is unsteady and pitchy most of the time...then she hits a good note and everyone forgets...simon is a good judge.

I know he's not a musician but he has some prestige due in part to his ear for music. Like many film critics are not filmmakers, but they understand film. Simon hates the over the top theatrics and "screaming" that some contestants do. That's why he didn't like Adam Lambert (nor me for that matter). I'm not sure if he wasn't a help to the contestants for that season but it seemed like genuine critique at least in this clip. However, all the American Idol judges tend to what you described.

What do you mean? He didn't critique her fashion sense, he critiqued her vocals. That's what he's supposed to be doing. You might not agree with his opinion but he tried to be constructive instead of saying something along the lines of "your outfit looks dreadful" which offers nothing to the contestant. I HATE when people talk about looking good rather than the actual singing, talent, or ability of an artist.

I would venture to guess that she wrote at least half of them. Why do I say that? Because, these songs are about HER LIFE, & one of the things she feels very strongly about, is being able to have her creative say in her musical carrer. Also, she co-wrote songs with Lunar Valve, & those lyrics are pretty great, as well. And there is a similarity in the lyrical style (alot of depth), although... her "Moonbaby" release was not done in the harder edge genre that the Lunar Valve songs are done in.

That night, when the phone #'s were posted..... her phone # went to Aarons votes, on facebook, therefore so many of her votes went to him. Fans realized what had happened. There was even a petition up regarding this. AI did nothing about it, and didn't even address it. The FACT is: 2.5 million viewers disappeared the following week. THAT is true. maybe you don't see anything special BUT..... she is very special to alot of us.

Phillip is still on American idol. Nobody knew of him until now. I don't see the use in coming here and attacking someone who isn't even on the show anymore. Part of why Phillip is hyped is because he's got the handsome factor that makes girl swoon. There's essentially not much more too him than there is for her. They both are individualists trying to stick to their own path. Only Phillip had the luck of being good looking and having rabid teenage fangirls. She'd outsing him any day though.

This was a really good performance, but Simon and Kara had already started their ploy to get her kicked off at this point.

You'll notice that their feedback for Siobhan never made sense, and they would use non-descript, irrelevant words to describe her performances like "confusing" or "weird". They continuously called her belted mix register "screaming" as if to diminish those notes somehow, or Simon would say that she'd "hit them better before." I'm sorry, those notes were perfectly on pitch and they were powerful, so tell me in logical terms how she didn't hit them as well during this performance? And a few times they would even start talking about the other contestants during her critique, as Simon did here, to distract from the fact that their critique for Siobhan had no real point.

Then the kiss of death is always "you're back!", which they used on her Any Man of Mine Performance even though it wasn't any better than this or Suspicious Minds (which both deserved good feedback actually).

They tried to do the same thing to Adam Lambert in his season, but his talent was undeniable. Anyone too different or too talented I suppose...

***** I don't believe it was this song, but a trend she had. It's what Mariah Carey did in that she had a five octave range, which is clearly gone now, yet none of her songs were memorable because it seemed that all they were were octave runs. There are other vocal tricks people can use. Look want Beth Hart did on Star Search. She did a lot of vocal tricks. She also got more top scores in a season than anybody else on that show and that show had more stars come out of it than American Idol.

First of all, Mariah hit 4 octaves and two tones this year already, so her voice really isn't as gone as people suggest - even if it has diminished. Her songs must be memorable because she's had more number 1s than any other artist.

Also, I disagree about her not being versatile and relying only on vocal runs. She had her breathy whisper-falsetto, she could growl before Christina ever did, she can phonate in whistle register, she sang jazz scales over RnB beats (Crybaby!). Also, watch her performance of You & I - the way she sang most of that song in her impressive lower register before jumping two octaves straight to whistle register was genius!

Beth Hart has a killer voice, but she's a different kind of singer altogether and a good songwriter to boot. She has a bluesy rock voice: a very thick, harsh and dark tone; too much of that can be a bit overwhelming for the average listener especially with the unsteady tremolo vibrato and screaming. Very talented though, but an alternative musician for sure, even if she came through a talent show. It's like comparing PJ Harvey to Katy Perry.

I couldn't find anything stating that Mariah sang less than five octaves in her prime. I also went to Billboard's cart to find Mariah's hits and I recognize some of the names such as Shake It Off (There are probably several songs with that title), but don't remember what any of those individual songs sounded like. The five or so songs that I did hear from her were exactly like I described which is why I didn't listen to more of her work. The same can be said of Christina Aguleara's work.

I dread the high pitched notes, especially the whistle register. I don't like high pitched sounds in general. To me, Beth Hart's vibrato doesn't bother me and I love her screaming. Screaming only works if the singer is loud with a high lung capacity and that is what Beth has. When the current pop stars try to scream, they can't even get past their band, while Beth can get past the band and the thousands of screaming fans.

I've heard Rihanna, Beyonce and Lady Gaga with real bands and they are completely overwhelmed by the band. Recently Christina sang a song on the Voice and she had to scream as hard as she could to get heard while the others could just fine.

I agreed with a lot of what you said, but if you think Simon was trying to sabotage Adam Lambert you're insane. Simon LOVED Adam. Ring of Fire Simon had some problems with, but so did a lot of people.

Yep wouldn't surprise me if they discussed this off the show. It felt like to me there was a difference of opinion on Siobhan between the judges and the producers. Simon and Kara hated her but I sensed the producers wanted her to stay around as long as possible? Maybe I'm wrong and they were all against her but producers would often give her prime spots on the show and she got a ton of time after her elimination. It felt like someone in production was in her corner at least since at F6 she again got the last spot. No way they wanted her gone before Aaron from a television ratings standpoint. My gut tells me going into the top 12 producers hoped it would be a Crystal vs Siobhan season. Simon and Kara though, they were determined to make her look bad and get her off the show. They tried to make her a Lil Rounds. Simon finally did it when he said at F6 "it sounded like you were giving birth". My conspiracy is that Simon wanted Lee to win and make Siobhan look bad to make it look like Idol couldn't find great talent anymore to make his upcoming X Factor look much better. He wanted to give the finger to Simon Fuller on the way out.

Really? LOL There is nowhere in this entire universe, or any plane of existance that Phillip Phillips could EVER sound an inth as good as Siobhan. EVERYTHING he sings sounds the same, just like a Dave Matthews clone, while Siobhan is quite unique, and vocally phenomenal.

this was the most under-rated performance I have ever heard. Pieps, stage presence, the gorgeous looks! wow! I actaully like this version better than Stevie's. yep, I said it!

Siobhan just released her first CD "Moonbaby", and as great as her vocals were on Idol, they are beyond incredible on this release. She co-wrote each song(except for Nothing Compares To You), and it is even above & beyond what I expected (and I expected it to be great). The lyrics and the arrangements are exceptional. There is no one out there like Siobhan. As far as Phillip, he good, BUT, really... vocally, and creatively....he comes no where close to Siobhan. And, I do wish him the best.

Uh huh..... I guess she annoys you so much that you just "happened" to be watching her YouTube video of Superstition. LOL !!! Siobhan has an incredible range and voice (which Phillip has neither). Phillip does have a certain appeal to some (it's totally lost on me), he is a clone of Dave Matthews in voice, movements, face, and has about a one octave range that he uses. . So....... where, exactly is the "artistry" , cuz I can't find it.

Very Very Very MIND BLOWING. Siobhan picked the right song for her voice, If she had picked songs like that, Never over-estimated her picks, she could have been a top runner. So I think Simon had a bad opinion, though usually he is right.

Simon Cowell is a crank. I can't imagine working with or for him. This may not have been Siobhan's finest moment, but it was scintillating nonetheless and I enjoyed it. Simon on the other hand is so full of himself that he can't apparently even bother to listen to the music. Probably the reason X-Factor is tanking.

The problem is with arrangement. It is copied from Stevie Wonder's rendition : very loud rock-watch it on you tube. Siobhan has a tender interpretation and the loud arrangement is dimming her singing and is totally unfit.

Simon wasn't constructive at all. He spoke in vague generalities and really barely addressed her at all...most of his comments were for "everybody". He's not a musician and if he likes someone, he'll generally always like them, if not, he sputters about them not choosing the right song, not pushing hard enough, etc. He did the same thing to Adam Lambert. He decided early on he didn't like him and he was negative most of that season toward him (with the exception of Mad World).
