What always struck me in the story is that Wilhelm gets upset that Irene got married and instantly denounces her new relationship as a farce. Which really tells you what kind of man he is. You'd think that if you're so worried about your ex interfering with your life, you'd be happy to learn that she has since moved on and has no further interest in you. But he is apparently so self-absorbed that it makes him angry that she got over him like a normal, healthy person.

That were an exceptional man.

That’s not how I interpreted it at all. It seemed as though he were deeply infatuated by her, a tad jealous of her new mark; yet completely aware of her more devious side and doings. Which I think is why he was so infatuated with her to begin with.

Thanks for sharing your "feelings"
Let's not pretend we understand relationship dynamics this isn't fresh and fit.

What always struck me in the story is his casual cocain use 😂 no wonder he knew how many stairs and was so observant shoot give anyone some coke and watch them turn into Sherlock lol.
I know it was common of the time but it’s pretty funny to think about now and whenever I hear anyone talk about his literature this somehow falls behind.

"We were both in the photograph."
"Oh dear, that is very bad."
My favourite part of the book. Greg Wagland did that part really well!
