It is rumored that the band broke up after discovering that their contract had cut them out of all royalties from their first two albums.
John Garner and Louis Dambra recently recorded and self-released a new Sir Lord Baltimore album, based on the material that would have comprised the group's third album in 1973. Sir Lord Baltimore III RAW was released in July, 2006.
Kingdom Come
Sir Lord Baltimore Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I fell prey unto the wind
Sail on, crimson majesty
Turn, turn, wheel of fortune, spin
Until my kingdom come
And then my will be done
Eyes want only for to sleep
Sinking thoughts I could not link
Fathomed raptures of the deep
O come my kingdom come
And then my will be done
Come my kingdom, come
Wake me, paradise untold
Giant phoenix, be my wings
Roll on, chariots of gold
All rise! Hail the King of Kings
O come my kingdom come
And then my will be done
Shining wizards bring the rain
Shooting arrows at the sun
Praise him, for that now he shall reign
Deaf ears, beat your silent drum
O come my kingdom come
O then my will be done
Come my kingdom, come
Virgin burned by midnight flame
I shall never know your name
I've known blinding woe and pain
Say I, all that's left's been said
O come my kingdom come
And then my will be done
O come my kingdom come
And then my will be done ...
The opening lines of "Kingdom Come" by Sir Lord Baltimore suggest a sense of urgency and danger. The singer hear sirens calling and is caught up by the wind, setting the stage for a journey into the unknown. The lyrics are infused with a sense of mysticism and an almost Biblical tone, with references to the Wheel of Fortune and the King of Kings. The repeated refrain of "Until my kingdom come and then my will be done" implies a sense of personal destiny or mission that the singer is striving towards.
The second verse speaks to fatigue and weariness, with the singer's eyes wanting only to sleep. However, despite this exhaustion, they describe "sinking thoughts I could not link" and "fathomed raptures of the deep," suggesting a deeper desire to explore and discover. The third verse takes on a more fantastical tone, invoking giants, phoenixes, and chariots of gold. The singer longs for their own kingdom to come, and the chorus repeats this desire.
As the song progresses, it becomes more intense, with references to wizards, arrows, and the burning of a virgin. The final verse is somewhat cryptic, with the singer saying "all that's left's been said." It could be interpreted as a reference to having fulfilled their destiny, or perhaps a realization that they cannot change their fate.
Overall, "Kingdom Come" is a powerful and evocative song that uses enigmatic lyrics and mystical imagery to convey a sense of personal struggle and quest.

Amen to your list! I was still a kid in the 70s and my brothers were of age. They played in a band and I would sit around listening to their music. Anyway, just checking out some not-so-popular rock bands of the 70s. My favorite so far is Budgie but heard and read great things about Sir Lord Baltimore. It's a blast of an experience.
