Sidereal Mirror
Sirius Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The hand of oblivion stretches at me. What worlds lie beyond the abyss?Whither dost thy stare take me for so long?
Hither do we not belong... Alas, they forsaken energy springs into radial reflections which in me reassemble whole of essence for which my soul thirsts... My sidereal mirror from where the stars arose.
Yet far can I sense thy hand, such is the power of your presence! Whose voice, this of the leading silence? And what face portrayeth behind the veil? Whence dost it call? Thy bewildering song? Such beauty, dost not hither belong...
Once I gazed at thee, in the river of hope...But this, the reflection of thy thoughts in mine, was but the flow of the waters, of despair.

Overall Meaning

The opening line of the song "The hand of oblivion stretches at me" sets a dark and ominous tone, suggesting that the singer is confronting a force beyond their control. The idea of "oblivion" suggests a total erasure, and the following line asking "What worlds lie beyond the abyss?" adds to the sense of foreboding. The singer is then addressed by an unknown entity, as they are asked "Whither dost thy stare take me for so long?" This line suggests that the singer is compelled by some force beyond their comprehension, staring into the abyss perhaps, and that the entity speaking to them has noticed this gaze.

The lines "Alas, they forsaken energy springs into radial reflections" suggest that the singer is experiencing a moment of clarity or revelation. They are able to see an "essence" that their soul has been thirsting for, and it is being reassembled through these "radial reflections." It's unclear what this essence is, or what the reflections are, but they seem to be otherworldly in nature. The following lines ask a series of questions about the entity that is addressing the singer, and the beauty that it embodies. But the final lines of the stanza suggest a sense of disappointment or disillusionment, as the singer looks into a river of hope and sees only reflections of despair.
