She truly is a northern star!
Here are the lyrics to her song "Ready to go home":
On this street below these walls
Where I used to walk now I can barely crawl
All this darkness rise and tall
Lord shine a light for me I’m ready to be caught
I’m ready to go home
I’m ready to receive forgiveness for my sins
I’m ready to begin
Take this river to the sea
Where the delta flows
The tide is washing over me
Guide this soul to heavens door
Show me where tomorrow lays
I’m waiting to be born
I’m ready to lay down
I’m ready now to sleep a promise I must keep
I’m ready to go home
So time I’ll lay down with these memories
Breathe the shallow deep inside of me
If time has run its course with me
I’m ready to go home
I’m ready to receive forgiveness for my sins
I’m ready to begin
When the evening shadows fall
When the time has come
I let defences fall
To surrenders to survive
I will give up everything to those I leave behind
I’m ready to go home
I’m ready to receive forgiveness for my sins
I’m ready to begin
I’m ready to lay down
I’m ready now to sleep a promise I must keep
I’m ready to go home, again
Going home again

Mi piace è bello, bello
Vo'andare in Porta Rossa
A comperar l'anello
Sì, sì, ci voglio andare
E se l'amassi invano
Andrei sul Ponte Vecchio
Ma per buttarmi in Arno
O Dio, vorrei morir
Babbo, pietà, pietà
Babbo, pietà, pietà
Sissel's song "O Mio Babbino Caro" is an Italian song that was originally by Giacomo Puccini. The song is sung by a young woman named Lauretta who is begging her father for her lover's hand in marriage. The song begins by Lauretta expressing her love for her lover and her desire to go to the Porta Rossa to buy an engagement ring. She sings "O mio babbino caro, mi piace è bello, bello..." which translated to English means "Oh my dear papa, I love him, he is handsome, handsome."
Lauretta also says that if she were to love in vain, she would go to the Ponte Vecchio and jump in the Arno river. This highlights how deeply she feels for her lover and the pain that would come with unrequited love. The song ends with Lauretta pleading for her father's mercy by saying "Babbo, pietà, pietà" which means "Father, have mercy, have mercy."
The song is a beautiful and moving expression of love and the lengths one would go to be with the person they love. It has been covered by many artists over the years, but Sissel's rendition stands out for its emotional depth and incredible vocal performance.

Everyone else really BELTS out the high note ... but here I have what I want: this woman gently graces that note and I feel it’s much more powerful for it. 🙏 A really moving performance.
@tubbs1dm
I agree. She delicately presents the powerful passages wonderfully.
@sandraforber7834
She doesn't need to her voice speaks for itself.. heavenly ✨✨
@SirBenjaminAzure
This piece is kind of written for dramatic sopranos. Which is why it seems like they belt it but they're just doing it how they know to do it.
@cynthiawalker5620
@@SirBenjaminAzure That may be. It’s not as effective or beautiful or moving though. IMO.
@SirBenjaminAzure
@@cynthiawalker5620 tell that to Puccini. Lol. He wrote it for dramatic. I prefer myric soprano on this piece as well but I know it was written for dramatic.

I love the slower tempo and her melancholy delivery, so unusual for Sissel. This nis by far the most beautiful rendition of this aria that I have heard. I cannot believe some of the comments - the opera snobs are back in full force. All that crap about microphones. One of the reasons that Sissel's voice is so wonderful is that she always uses a microphone so that she can sing at a NORMAL level, which captures the sweetness and richness of that wonderful voice. BRAVA !
@mbrackeva
The microphone is there for the recording, not for the audience.
