She’s released over 14 studio albums, her Christmas album from 1986 is the best selling album in Norway ever with almost one mill copies sold! She’s featured on several soundtracks and sold well over nine million albums world wide and her popularity continues to grow!
She truly is a northern star!
Here are the lyrics to her song "Ready to go home":
On this street below these walls
Where I used to walk now I can barely crawl
All this darkness rise and tall
Lord shine a light for me I’m ready to be caught
I’m ready to go home
I’m ready to receive forgiveness for my sins
I’m ready to begin
Take this river to the sea
Where the delta flows
The tide is washing over me
Guide this soul to heavens door
Show me where tomorrow lays
I’m waiting to be born
I’m ready to lay down
I’m ready now to sleep a promise I must keep
I’m ready to go home
So time I’ll lay down with these memories
Breathe the shallow deep inside of me
If time has run its course with me
I’m ready to go home
I’m ready to receive forgiveness for my sins
I’m ready to begin
When the evening shadows fall
When the time has come
I let defences fall
To surrenders to survive
I will give up everything to those I leave behind
I’m ready to go home
I’m ready to receive forgiveness for my sins
I’m ready to begin
I’m ready to lay down
I’m ready now to sleep a promise I must keep
I’m ready to go home, again
Going home again
Romance
Sissel Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
My romance doesn't need a blue lagoon standing by
No month of May, no twinkling stars
No hide away, no softly guitars
My romance doesn't need a castle rising in Spain
Nor a dance to a constantly surprising refrain
Wide awake I can make my most fantastic dreams come true
The lyrics to Sissel's song "Romance" are a poetic declaration of love that powerfully communicates how in love, the most basic and simplest things can give ultimate fulfillment. The song opens with a statement about how the romance doesn't have to appear perfect, with a moon in the sky, blue lagoon or a particular month. Instead, the singer focuses on sharing the experience of love deeply with that special person. It doesn't need hideaways, softly played guitars or twinkling stars, but a love that is simple and profound.
As the song progresses, the singer emphasizes the idea that their love doesn't need a huge castle in Spain, nor does it require a seemingly never-ending melody to dance to. The person singing acknowledges that they can create their most fantastic dreams and turn them into reality by staying awake, but emphasizes that what they really need is that special person that they love so closely.
In conclusion, the message of the song is that true romance isn't founded on material things or grand landscapes. Instead, it is a deep and simple commitment to love shared with that special and important individual in your life.

Sissel is just fantastic. This is heavenfly and beautiful, and worth the listening. I believe Sissel has the best singing voice in the world.
@schnued
You have chosen the three words - purity, beauty and perfection that describe not alone Sissel's voice but the reasons why I and I suspect everyone who on hearing her for the first time is drawn to her.
@jwilliam2255
Sissel vocalizes better than any other other singer in the world. Even words sometimes cloud the purity, beauty and perfection of her voice.

@schmued Yes, I agree with you completely but I would add one more word: loveliness. As I've watched video of Sissel on UNICEF trips, interviews, rehearsing for concerts and receiving awards, it has become clear that she is off-the-scale lovely in *every* way that a woman can be lovely.
