She’s released over 14 studio albums, her Christmas album from 1986 is the best selling album in Norway ever with almost one mill copies sold! She’s featured on several soundtracks and sold well over nine million albums world wide and her popularity continues to grow!
She truly is a northern star!
Here are the lyrics to her song "Ready to go home":
On this street below these walls
Where I used to walk now I can barely crawl
All this darkness rise and tall
Lord shine a light for me I’m ready to be caught
I’m ready to go home
I’m ready to receive forgiveness for my sins
I’m ready to begin
Take this river to the sea
Where the delta flows
The tide is washing over me
Guide this soul to heavens door
Show me where tomorrow lays
I’m waiting to be born
I’m ready to lay down
I’m ready now to sleep a promise I must keep
I’m ready to go home
So time I’ll lay down with these memories
Breathe the shallow deep inside of me
If time has run its course with me
I’m ready to go home
I’m ready to receive forgiveness for my sins
I’m ready to begin
When the evening shadows fall
When the time has come
I let defences fall
To surrenders to survive
I will give up everything to those I leave behind
I’m ready to go home
I’m ready to receive forgiveness for my sins
I’m ready to begin
I’m ready to lay down
I’m ready now to sleep a promise I must keep
I’m ready to go home, again
Going home again

Osv
The lyrics of "Tenn et lys for dem" by Sissel convey a call to action to extend compassion and help to those who are struggling in life. The song begins by highlighting the darkness and despair that exists in the world, and how we can offer hope to those in need. The chorus encourages lighting a candle for those who are lost, both physically and emotionally, and wishing for them to find their way home to a world where they are valued and appreciated.
The second verse takes on a more personal tone, asking the listener to examine their own life and giving, and recognize that true happiness and fulfillment comes not from receiving, but from giving to others. The final stanza urges us to come together and offer what we can, material or spiritual, and in doing so, acknowledge and appreciate the blessings we have received ourselves.
Overall, the song is a poignant reminder of the power of human connection and the necessity of being kind and compassionate towards those around us.

Se deg omkring: en natt er her,
Look around you: a night is here,
Hører du ropet fra fjern og nær?
Can you hear the call from far and near?
Bæres en bønn framfor deg og meg:
Is a prayer being carried before you and me:
Gi dem håp på håpløs vei...
Give them hope on a hopeless path...
Light a candle for those who need to find their way,
Through the darkness on a cold and unfriendly earth.
Light a candle for them so that they may come home
To a world that has given them more than just words...
Gi det du har, gi livet et svar.
Give what you have, give life an answer.
Can you say no when they are waiting for you
Og alt du kan gi.
And all that you can give.
Kom, la oss gi med åpen hånd
Come, let us give with open hands
Alt vi kan dele av brød og ånd.
All that we can share of bread and spirit.

Life becomes good only when we understand
Vi har alt å takke for!
We have everything to be grateful for!
Tenn et lys for dem
Light a candle for them

Where you have “yes” several times she’s really singing “just”. It’s her accent that makes it sound like “yes”.
