She truly is a northern star!
Here are the lyrics to her song "Ready to go home":
On this street below these walls
Where I used to walk now I can barely crawl
All this darkness rise and tall
Lord shine a light for me I’m ready to be caught
I’m ready to go home
I’m ready to receive forgiveness for my sins
I’m ready to begin
Take this river to the sea
Where the delta flows
The tide is washing over me
Guide this soul to heavens door
Show me where tomorrow lays
I’m waiting to be born
I’m ready to lay down
I’m ready now to sleep a promise I must keep
I’m ready to go home
So time I’ll lay down with these memories
Breathe the shallow deep inside of me
If time has run its course with me
I’m ready to go home
I’m ready to receive forgiveness for my sins
I’m ready to begin
When the evening shadows fall
When the time has come
I let defences fall
To surrenders to survive
I will give up everything to those I leave behind
I’m ready to go home
I’m ready to receive forgiveness for my sins
I’m ready to begin
I’m ready to lay down
I’m ready now to sleep a promise I must keep
I’m ready to go home, again
Going home again

Away, you rolling river
O Shenandoah, I long to hear you
Away, we're bound away ´cross the wide Missouri
O Shenandoah, I love your daughter
Away, you rolling river
O Shenandoah, I love your daughter
O Shenandoah, I'm bound to leave you
Away, you rolling river
O Shenandoah, I'll not deceive you
Away, were bound away ´cross the wide Missouri
The song "Shenandoah" is a traditional American folk song that dates back to the 19th century. It is a song about a man who longs to be reunited with his love, who lives in the Shenandoah Valley. Shenandoah is a river in Virginia that flows past the Blue Ridge Mountains and into West Virginia. The song is believed to have originated with French and Canadian fur traders who traveled down the river and fell in love with local Cherokee women.
In the first verse, the singer expresses their longing to hear the Shenandoah river again, which they describe as a "rolling river." They are "bound away 'cross the wide Missouri," which signifies that they are on a journey away from the Shenandoah Valley.
The second verse describes the singer's love for the daughter of Shenandoah. They express their love for her and are again "bound away 'cross the wide Missouri."
In the final verse, the singer states that they are "bound to leave" Shenandoah, but they will not deceive her. This suggests that they have made a decision or are being forced to leave, but they will always remember and honor their love for Shenandoah.
Overall, the song is a melancholy tribute to a lost love and a sense of longing for home. It is a popular song that has been covered by many musicians over the years, including Sissel, who recorded a version of it in 1994.

I just realized that this song is the American "Danny Boy." Both sing about someone having to leave home. So sad. So much loss. I think that as you get older, you appreciate the people in your life who are gone. Unfortunately, sometimes that can make this song excruciatingly painful. 😭
@moranplano
And very sad...but in a beautiful way.

I've watched this many many times. Sissel is a gift from heaven. This time I shed tears when Paddy's face was shown. R.I.P. Paddy Maloney.
