Overall Meaning

The song "Tell the Children" by Sizzla is a powerful message to the black community to be aware of the dangerous acts of Babylon, to be vigilant against the false promises they make, and to take control of their health by choosing natural foods over processed foods that are potentially poisoned. Sizzla also draws attention to the importance of going back to their African roots, a greatness that was once stolen by Babylon through slavery.

Sizzla’s comparison of Babylon to Delila proves this. Delila was a woman from the Bible who betrayed her lover, Samson, by cutting off his hair, his source of strength, so that he could be captured by the enemies. Similarly, Babylon tries to weaken and deceive the black community by promising them a quick fix, but Sizzla is calling them to be vigilant and avoid Babylon’s deception.

The song is also a tribute to Emperor Selassie I who is revered in the Rastafarian culture. He represents the promise of repatriation, and as such, Sizzla promotes fundamental freedom, redemption, and black international repatriation. Sizzla’s message is clear: take back control of your health, affirm African identity, and do not trust Babylon’s false promises.
