After a wildly successful tour across South America in late 2005, the band decided, in their own words, to "stop for a while". Some of their members went on to form side band projects such as No Relax and The Locos. As time went by without further notices, many Ska-P fans feared the band had been gone for good. On late April 2008 and for the rejoice of their worldwide fans, they announced their return as a band on their official site.
Their new album, "Lágrimas y gozos", was released the 7th of October 2008 and its first single is called "Crimen sollicitationis". The band is going to perform various shows around South America and Europe in November and December.

The song, Consumo Gusto by Ska-P, addresses the culture of consumerism and the impact it has on the working-class. The lyrics describe the experience of a working-class individual who is struggling to make ends meet but is compelled to participate in the consumerist culture. The person works all day but is barely able to make enough money to sustain their life, yet they are bombarded with advertisements that make them feel obligated to spend money. While they cannot afford the essential things like paying for their child's school or their mother's residency expenses, they are constantly reminded by the media that consuming is essential - which they accept with pleasure.
The lyrics suggest that it is societal pressure that turns people into consumers, not necessarily the intrinsic desire to buy things. Furthermore, the song addresses the perpetuation of social inequality and class differences through consumerism. At the same time as it narrows the economic gap, consumerism can also increase social inequality.
