After a wildly successful tour across South America in late 2005, the band decided, in their own words, to "stop for a while". Some of their members went on to form side band projects such as No Relax and The Locos. As time went by without further notices, many Ska-P fans feared the band had been gone for good. On late April 2008 and for the rejoice of their worldwide fans, they announced their return as a band on their official site.
Their new album, "Lágrimas y gozos", was released the 7th of October 2008 and its first single is called "Crimen sollicitationis". The band is going to perform various shows around South America and Europe in November and December.

The lyrics of Ska-P's song El Gato Lopez tell the story of a special cat named Lopez who was born on the street and grew up in the midst of rubble and waste. Despite his difficult life, he grew strong and rebellious, adapting to the harsh realities of street life. Lopez's mother was a street cat and his father was a Siamese cat. He has twenty siblings in Carabanchel, a suburb of Madrid. He scavenges for food in the trash, stealing food from better-off cats. But he also has a talent: he loves to dance to the beat of Ska music, wearing his boots and vest with pride. He is not just a feral cat, he is a Ska cat.
However, Lopez's life is not easy. He is weak and malnourished, always looking for ways to survive. The police dogs are after him, trying to catch him and put him in a cage. The other cats in the society do not understand him, rejecting him because of his rebellious nature. But Lopez refuses to back down. He rebels and resists, embracing his unique personality and striving for freedom.
The meaning of the song is not only about the story of a cat but also illustrates the struggles of the working class and the marginalized communities that struggle to survive in a society where they face discrimination.
