Faithfulness
Skin (Deborah Anne Dyer) Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Distracts me from my ever changing
Tastefulness
My mouth upon the richest tongues
I run for this
Static at the same time by it all
Common sense
Can slap me in the face
And yet I calm dissent
Embarrassed by your obvious
Indifference
Disgusted at the same time by it all
Watching as my ego breaks your fall
Don't you know that I've
Been running from you heart
And I feel like you've been running too
Don't you know that I've
Been lying from the start
And I feel like you've been lying too.
Leave you now
Can't convince myself
That you're the one somehow
To free me from this smile
I call my loneliness
Stuck inside this need to feel complete
Now I've left you standing on your feet
Don't you know that I've been
Running from you heart
And I feel like you've been running too
Don't you know that I've been
Lying from the start
And I feel like you've been
Lying too.
Faithfulness is just a little rule
We break
Still pretending lust was just a fool
We faked, we made
In Skin's song "Faithfulness," she explores the idea of loyalty and the distraction it provides from her changing tastes and desires. She begins the song by stating that faithfulness distracts her from her ever-changing tastefulness. Despite this, she still longs for consistency and something that is static at the same time. However, when common sense does slap her in the face, she becomes embarrassed by the obvious indifference of her partner. Watching as her ego breaks the fall of her partner, Skin becomes disgusted by it all. Throughout the song, she acknowledges her own lies and running away from her partner's heart, but also feels that her partner has been lying too.
As the song progresses, Skin realizes that she cannot convince herself that her partner is the one for her. She feels stuck inside her need to feel complete and has left her partner standing on their feet. The refrain of the song repeats the lyrics "Don't you know that I've been running from your heart and I feel like you've been running too" and "Don't you know that I've been lying from the start and I feel like you've been lying too." Skin ends the song with the idea that faithfulness is just a little rule that she and her partner break, still pretending that lust was just a fool they faked.
Overall, the song "Faithfulness" by Skin explores the complexities of relationships, loyalty, and the desire for consistency. Skin recognizes her own flaws and lies within the relationship, but also acknowledges her partner's. The song ends with the realization that faithfulness is just a little rule that they break, pretending that their lust was just a mistake.

i forgot the group and the singers name .....
While walking on the street ...i hear someone listening to it from their headset ... just part of the tune ... and then my brain lit up like hell ...reminding me of listening to it .
I came home with the tune eating me inside ... i had to find it ...I HAD TO .
TOOK ME A BLOODY 8 HOURS OF INSANE GOOGLING .... before i found her
...i found her through an old article about her mohawk hair style ...thats what was left in my mind ...
Boy it took me long time ...
But it was worth it .
