The band initially came together with three of the four Dub War veterans with Jeff Rose and Martin Ford returning alongside Webbe, along with new bassist Daniel Pugsley. The group released their debut LP Babylon in July 2002, with sporadic success in parts of Europe and the U.S. metal underground. However after suffering years of indifference and waning support from Earache Records with Dub War and now seeing the same lack of label support from RCA for Skindred, Rose and Ford amicably left the band in November of 2002, but would continue to offer their support.
Soon Webbe had hooked up with guitarist Mikey Dee, and drummer Dirty Arya and continued on, but it wasn't until a year or so later and Lava Records' involvement that the album really took off. Skindred re-released Babylon in August 2004. Lava's version featured different cover art, and included newly recorded material in addition to the original, Howard Benson-helmed songs. Skindred then headed out on a series of tours with acts like Sevendust, Nonpoint, and Papa Roach, and never looked back.

Rip it up with a boom sound we no lack
Got the rhythms the dub plat killa tracks
Annihilate and destroy them we do that
Letting them know that ah we come fe
Rock and control again
Ho ho well
Setting the pace in the place

Turn your system down
No weak heart can take it
Burn it to the ground
Watch how we shatters and we break it

Cannot take the music killa sound
Yeah we turn it up and never down

Pressure Pressure Pressure
The Skindred song "Pressure" is an anthem for those who love loud, booming music and won't let anyone tell them to turn it down. In the opening lyrics, the band establishes the idea that they are coming in with a musical attack, using dub-style tracks and rhythms to create a sound that will annihilate and destroy. They are letting everyone know that they are here to rock and control, setting the pace and driving the listeners insane with a volume that no weak heart can handle. The chorus speaks to the idea of pressure being a driving force, stressing and driving the haters underground. The second verse speaks to the common struggle of annoying neighbors and their complaints, but the band urges their fans to stand strong and not back down. The song ends on a repetition of the chorus, solidifying the power of pressure in the face of adversity.
Overall, "Pressure" celebrates the power of music and the impact it can have on people. It is a defiant anthem for those who believe in the cathartic release of aggressive music and refuse to let anyone tell them to turn it down. The song is filled with energy and passion, and urges listeners to stand strong in the face of criticism.
