Neverland
Skold Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Say hello to nevermore
There's no justice left worth fighting for
Drown your faith in disbelief
And base your morals on deceit and greed
Say goodbye to all you know
Hold your breath and let your conscience go
Put your faith in Jesus cash
Close your eyes and let the system crash

In a crown of razor wire, kiss me now

If I lose my faith, it would be too late
Right back to Neverland
It would drag me down, suck me underground
Right back to Neverland

Sell me hope in little pills
The fastest way to break the human will
A barefoot walk through broken glass
Maybe something I can feel at last

In a crown of razor wire, kiss me now

If I lose my faith, it would be too late
Right back to Neverland
It would drag me down, suck me underground
Right back to Neverland

You don't understand
I'm down the hole again
Never enough, it's never enough
You can't comprehend
I'm back on the cross again
Never enough, it's never enough

If I lose my faith, it would be too late
Right back to Neverland
It would drag me down, suck me underground
Right back to Neverland

You don't understand
You don't understand

If I lose my faith, it would be too late
It would drag me down, suck me underground

It's never enough, never enough
Right back to Neverland
Right back to Neverland
You don't understand
You don't understand

You don't understand
You don't understand

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Skold’s song “Neverland” can be interpreted as a commentary on the state of society and the disillusionment of individuals with institutional systems such as religion, politics, and the economy. The opening lines, “Say hello to nevermore / there’s no justice left worth fighting for,” suggest a sense of hopelessness and abandonment of belief in any kind of justice or fairness in the world. This feeling of disillusionment is further explored in the line “drown your faith in disbelief / and base your morals on deceit and greed,” which implies a lack of faith in any higher power or moral authority, and an emphasis on self-interest and manipulation.

The references to “Jesus cash” and “selling hope in little pills” can be interpreted as criticisms of organized religion and the pharmaceutical industry, respectively, both of which are often accused of profiting from the naive and vulnerable. The lyrics also suggest a desire for physical sensation, represented by the line “a barefoot walk through broken glass / maybe something I can feel at last,” which may indicate a need for tangible experiences to counterbalance a lack of emotional or spiritual fulfillment.

The repetition of the phrase “right back to Neverland” throughout the song suggests a cyclical nature to these feelings of disillusionment and hopelessness – no matter how hard one tries to escape or overcome them, they inevitably return. The final lines of the song, “you don’t understand / you don’t understand,” convey a sense of frustration or isolation felt by the singer, as if their perspective is not fully understood or appreciated by others.

Tim Sköld is from Sweden. We grew up in the same village by the name of Timmersdala-Timbervalley. Maybe 1000souls living there. It went pretty well for Tim. Sometimes he's home in sweden visiting his relatives living in Skövde. A swedish smalltown 20km from Timmersdala. Some of his old bandmates in Shotgun Messiah are from that town as well.

@TigerWhyteOfficial

This dude hasn't received the attention he deserves. He belongs up there with Slipknot and KoRn. Still one of the greatest in my book.

@TKNelson0169

He was with manson but solo career wise yeah.

@DeCavalcante

Hes already legend. He was with kmfdm. Who did all this before any of them. Nine inch nails exist because of them.

@ohho8819

and christina aguilera too....

@thegodbombs

more like Ministry but ok

@elspencer9779

And before Ministry there was Kraftwerk, Throbbing Gristle and Monte Cazazza. But i understand most have forgotten about those who coined the term Industrial music.
