In late september 2009, Skraeckoedlan recorded their first EP, "Flykten från tellus" (the escape from earth) in the Bombshelter studios in Örebro, with Oskar Cedermalm of Truckfighters as producer/technician.
It's a 5 track EP with an abstract concept about the environmental issues going on, with the polar ices melting, leading to a big horror lizard being awaken from the ice, and beginning to demolish the earth.
And that is also what the name Skraeckoedlan means, horror lizard.
Skraeckoedlan released demo's in 2010, and recorded in January 2011 their 1st full length album, Äppelträdet.

The lyrics of Skraeckoedlan's song Cactus describe the journey of a group of people leaving Earth and exploring new, unknown parts of the universe. As they leave the Earth's atmosphere, the light of the space grass they encounter is pale and different from what they are accustomed to. They travel beyond magical fires of Atlantis and encounter an unknown character next to an unknown nebula. This character is described as a moon warrior.
As the group continues their journey, they encounter a cactus that rises and introduces itself as Cactus Galaxus. In the eyes of the group's dreams, Cactus Galaxus is everything they desire. The moon warrior also rises, and they sing in unison with the cactus. The lyrics are open to interpretation and can be understood as a metaphor for exploration, discovery, and connecting with the unknown in the universe.
The song's tempo and music create a sense of momentum and adventure to complement the lyrics' narrative. The combination of the music and lyrics makes the listener feel a part of the exploration and experience the thrill of venturing into unknown territories.
