Toast

Than we have ever seen before
When everything fades away
What were we waiting for,
An engraved invitation?
Cause even a cut from a better knife
Would kill the silence with a scream
So nice to be surprised again
Here's to a better life
Here's to a better life
May all your lucky strikes
Add up like you wanted
To show a mistake in a better light
Seems suicidal and extreme
I never dreamed this had
To feel so bad
And I'm the one to blame again
When it's all gone by
Bless the thought that I
Could run to you
Here's to a better life
Here's to a better life
Here's to a better life
Here's to a better life
May all your lucky strikes
Add up like you wanted
The song "Toast" by Skycycle is about the desire for a better life, free from the mistakes and disappointments of the past. The opening lines express this hope for a brighter future, and suggest that it is up to the listener to take action to make it happen: "Here's to a better life than we have ever seen before, when everything fades away, what were we waiting for, an engraved invitation?" The singer seems to be urging the listener to seize the moment and make the most of their opportunities, rather than waiting for someone else to lead them.
The next verse continues with this theme, using a metaphor of a cut from a better knife to emphasize the transformative power of change: "Cause even a cut from a better knife would kill the silence with a scream, I never dreamed this could feel so good, so nice to be surprised again." Here, the singer is suggesting that even small changes can have a big impact on our lives, and that we should be open to the unexpected.
The chorus reinforces the idea of a better life, and expresses the wish that the listener's "lucky strikes" will add up as they want them to. The song ends on a hopeful note, with the singer expressing gratitude for the thought that they could depend on someone else in hard times.
Overall, "Toast" is a optimistic song about the power of change and the hope for a better future. It urges listeners to take control of their lives and make the most of their opportunities, even if it means taking risks and breaking with the past.
