Their first album, #1, is a forgotten classic. Nominally a trip hop or 'chillout' record, it's really far more ambitious. Beats and some low-key turntablism bookend excursions into lowercase soundscapes, vintage synth manipulation, ambient, impro and dub. Howie B's production bathes everything in a warm bass glow. Holds up brilliantly nearly 15 years later. Dig it out.
