High
Skyy Lyrics

High, high, high
High, high, high
High, high, high
High, high, high

You are my music, my every song
Your melody, how it turns me on
And every time I think of you
I hear a symphony
I just wanna thank you, wanna let you know
I'm hooked on your love and I can't let go
Play on sweet and low, play on
Uh huh, uh huh

Music's making me high, high, high
Keep on taking me high, high, high
Music's making me high, high, high
Keep on taking me high, high

Well, you're everything a girl could ever need
Uh huh
Thank you, baby
I'm so happy, so glad that you came into my life
Oooh, I'm so satisfied
Now every song I sing, I sing to you
Every night, every day
Play on sweet and low, play on
Uh huh, uh huh

Music's making me high, high, high
Keep on taking me high, high, high
Music's making me high, (Oh, sweet music, sweet music.) high, high
(Don't you know what I'm talking about?)
(I'm hooked on your music.)
High
High, high (oh, higher)
Keep on taking me high, high (Play on sweet and low, play on)

I'm hooked
Play, play (play on)

Overall Meaning

Skyy's song High is an upbeat and catchy disco song that is all about how the feeling of being in love is like being on a high. The repetitive use of the word "high" in the chorus is used to emphasize the feeling of euphoria that music can bring to the listener. The lyrics describe the singer's dependence on their lover's music, how it's "making me high" and "taking me high". Interestingly, the use of "sweet and low" as an instruction to the lover's music represents how the music can both lift the listener up and bring them back down gently.

The singer also expresses their gratitude towards their lover, who is everything they need, making them happy and satisfied. They sing every song to their lover and music has become the symbol of their appreciation towards their significant other.

Overall, Skyy's song "High" is a celebration of the emotional high that comes from being in love and the power of music to enhance that feeling. The use of repetitive lyrics and upbeat disco rhythms make it a perfect dance floor favorite.

1980 was a wonderful year.

Kiddies, I was 19 when the dj dropped the needle on this. In my early clubbing days, beginning in 1982, this was the get-em-on-the-floor jam. Clubs were VERY different back then. picture it: The ladies...slim, voluptuous lil' things, beautifully attired soft jewel-toned satin dresses, heels and flowing long or curled short (real) hair...don't get mad ladies....like i said, it was different back then. The guys, navy blue blazer with brass buttons, white open collared shirt, single small gold-link chain, italian low-pro kicks, close-cut waves, a spray of cologne in the air and walk through it. Clubs were dim yet opulent with brass, glass, candle-lit tables, low keyed voices with occasional bursts of jovial laughter, everyone finger-snapping in syncopation with the beat, soft-sumptuous sofas lined up with tables, upholstered chairs and hot ice vapors creating the ultra dance club experience. I went to them all, dressed to the nines and always got a dance. not bragging, but i had the groove and ladies knew when you got swag - just like today. ok grasshoppers, off with you and remember, less is always more. I'm now 62 and trying to watch my stories. Don't smoke that stankin' ish in my caddy. I'll know. Gone now.

Skyy was underrated ..... They beats got the party rocking

@ivanking569

They really are underrated. But, unfortunately, they came around in the late 70's and 80's when there were so many great bands and groups. They definitely held their own.

@LuciusBaston

This was the JAM! It was the first song I've knew from them. It was one the bangers on our playlist when we DJ'd in Queens, NY at parties, park jams and block parties. Still fiyah!
