In the late 1970s, Skyy signed to Salsoul Records. After several albums that saw moderate success in the R&B market, the group crossed over to the mainstream in a big way with the release of the Skyy Line album in late 1981. Featured on this album was the single "Call Me," which gave the group their first (and only, to date) top 40 hit on the pop charts, peaking at #26 in 1982. It also became the first of several #1 R&B hits for Skyy. Meanwhile, the group continued to record for the Salsoul label up through the release of their 1984 Inner City album (Salsoul would fold in 1985), scoring several additional hits on the R&B chart during that time.
In the mid-1980s, the group signed with Capitol Records and released their next album, From the Left Side in 1986. Apart from the top ten R&B single, "Givin' It (to You)," the album saw limited success, and the group left Capitol soon thereafter.
Things were looking rather bleak for the band by the late 1980s. However, after signing to Atlantic Records, Skyy launched a major comeback in 1989 with the release of their extremely successful Start of a Romance album. This release spun off two consecutive #1 R&B singles, with both the title track ("Start of a Romance") and the Quiet Storm classic, "Real Love" claiming the top spot. "Real Love" also became the group's second and final crossover pop hit peaking at #47 on the Top 50 Billboard charts in early 1990. The first single released from the album, "Love All the Way" had also cracked the R&B top 50. Unfortunately, by the release of the Nearer to You album in 1992, the hits had again dried up, and the band has not released a new studio album since then.
When You Touch Me

Supposed to keep my love inside
Don't fall in love with any guy
Until I know the score...
But then you came
Tryin' to take my love away
You wouldn't say if you would stay
But you knew from the start--
I love it, yes I love it when you touch me
(Ooh, I love I love what you do to me boy)
When you kiss me (Kiss me baby, baby)
I love it, yes I love it when you kiss me
Ooooooh, yes, I'm in love
And it feels so good
To let you know
Only you can make this feelin' grow
So love me tonight--Ooh
When you touch me (I love I love I love what you do to me boy)
I love it, yes I love it when you touch me
(come a little closer, closer)
When you kiss me (Let me whisper in your ear, I just wanna tell you)
I love it, yes I love it when you kiss me (I never wanna let you go, oh no oh no, oh)
When you touch me
I love it, yes I love it when you touch me
(I'm in love, I'm in love, I'm in love I'm in love with you boy, you boy, just you)
When you kiss me...
(You make all my dreams come true, oh
You're love is so real, and it's so good
Love me tonight, 'cause the time is right
I want you to love me, love me boy...)
When you touch me
I love it, yes I love it when you touch me
(Ooh Baby... touch me here, touch me there, touch me everywhere~~~)
When you touch me
I love it, yes I love it when you touch me...
The lyrics of "When You Touch Me" by Skyy describe the feeling of falling helplessly in love with someone who came unexpectedly and swept the singer off her feet. The first verse sets up the premise that the singer knows she should be cautious about falling in love but cannot seem to resist her feelings for this particular guy. She is aware that it is not wise to let her guards down, but she cannot help the way she feels when he touches her. The chorus expresses the pleasure she derives from his touch and kiss, and how it makes her feel loved and appreciated.
The second verse reinforces the singer's vulnerability and the depth of her attraction to the guy. She wants him to stay but is afraid to admit it. Nevertheless, she gives in to the passion and intimacy that he offers and revels in the warmth and tenderness of his touch. The chorus repeats, emphasizing the depth of the singer's feelings and the pleasure and joy she derives from being loved by this guy. The bridge serves as a declaration of love, with the singer expressing her desire for him and affirming the love that had taken hold of her. The song ends with the singer urging the guy to love her and make her dreams come true.
Overall, the lyrics of "When You Touch Me" are a testament to the beauty and complexity of love and the vulnerability that comes with it. It represents the joy and pleasure that two people can give to each other when they connect on a deep emotional level.
