We're gonna do a little bit of rock and roll, yeah

I went a-out on the floor when they played number one
My rock and roll baby was sure havin' fun
I'm a rocker, I'm a roller
I go down, sometimes, but I come back to rock and rollin', rollin'

I went out on the floor when they played number two
She says she don't, but I know she do
I'm a rocker, I'm a roller
I go down, sometime, but I come back to rock and rollin', rollin'

I went out on the floor when they played number four
My littlle baby was askin' for more
I'm a rocker, I'm a roller
I go down, sometimes, but I come back to rock and rollin', rollin'

Get on
Way-oh

Go on Davey, get the fuck in
Hey hey

I went out out the floor when they played number seven
Had a coke and cheeseburger that sent me to heaven
I'm a rocker, hey hey, I'm a roller, whoo
I go down, sometimes, but I come back to rock and rollin', rollin'

I went out on the floor when they played number nine
She wanted more, but I ain't got the time
I'm a rocker, I'm a roller
I go down, sometimes, but I come back to rock and rollin', rollin'

We went out on the floor when they played number ten
My rock and roll baby says do it again
I'm a rocker, I'm a roller
I go down, sometimes, but I come back to rock and rollin', rollin'

I go down, sometimes, but I come back to rock and rollin', rollin'
I go down, sometimes, but I come back to rock and roll

Overall Meaning

"I'm a Rocker" by Slade is a 1970s rock and roll song that celebrates the joy, energy and freedom of this genre of music. The song begins with an invitation to the listeners to participate in the celebration of rock and roll. The first verse tells the story of the singer's girlfriend, who is having fun and dancing to the number one song. The chorus then announces the singer's identity as a rocker and a roller, someone who takes risks but always comes back to rock and roll.

The second verse describes the singer's encounter with a different girl who denies enjoying rock and roll, but the singer knows better. He then repeats the chorus, emphasizing his identity as a "rocker" and a "roller". The third verse portrays the singer's third encounter with a girl who asks for more rock and roll and the climax of the chorus. The bridge marks the entrance of a new character, Davey, who prompts the others to continue their rock and roll celebration. The fourth verse tells the story of the singer's heavenly experience with a cheeseburger and rock and roll, and the fifth verse concludes the song with the singer's encounter with a girl who wants more of him but he has no time to give her.

"I'm a Rocker" is a classic rock and roll anthem that encapsulates the spirit of the genre. It is an upbeat, fun and energetic song that invites the listeners to join in the singer's joy and enthusiasm. The song's repetitive structure creates a sense of momentum and urgency, driving the listener to dance and move along with the beat. The song's lyrics celebrate the freedom and vitality of rock and roll, presenting it as a liberating force that allows one to let loose and express oneself fully. Slade was a inspiration for many bands, an many bands did remakes of their songs.Noddy, was interviewed, he was asked if it bothered him that others have used his songs, he took it as a compliment, they were years ahead of their time .I've listened to every version of every song, an I haven't run into 1.that I didn't like! they were so unique in every aspect, give credit where credit is due! there will never be another band that can compare too SLADE!rock on keep their dreams alive, let our children know what real rock and roll is all about! ✌

SLADE were fantastic live and the head bangers loved em coz during their gigs they grew in volume as they progressed through their set! They were a beast live and very very loud but surprisingly clear considering the volume. A true wall of sound! Nod would mess about and back well away from the microphone and he could honestly still be heard half way down the hall! My dad truly loathed em too. A real generation gap back the .heh heh heh. Still miss their live shows even today. Underrated
