The band had gone through numerous line-up changes over the years, but singer Ryan Kepke and Joe Nixon (drums) performed on every release, while Jeremiah Brown (bass) played on all except their final album, Far From Nowhere. This was their first release without Tooth and Nail Records, which they left, not for religious reasons, but merely because their contract had finished and the band felt the need for a change. Far From Nowhere was released on SideOneDummy Records in the summer of 2003.
The band was particularly successful in the Christian punk scene in the late 90s and early 2000s and toured alongside their peers, both secular and Christian (most notably bands such as Face to Face and MxPx, respectively). They also played certain legs of the Vans Warped Tour in 2003.
Hide and Seek
Slick Shoes Lyrics

It seems they never stay under the rug, I've swept them too
I don't know how I have gone on for so long
If only I could hide them someplace they would stay
And all this time I was wrong
You have been there every day
I never gave the credit that was due
I don't need to focus on what has passed
My life will not be hide and seek
But I will seek the truth in all I do
In every trial I face
I'll seek the truth, I'll seek the truth
The song "Hide and Seek" by Slick Shoes is all about acknowledging personal flaws and accepting that hiding them does not solve anything. The opening lines bring to light the fact that the singer has been trying to keep certain aspects of themselves hidden but has failed. They have been trying to sweep their flaws under the rug, but they keep resurfacing no matter what they do. The singer expresses their desire to find a place where they can hide these parts of themselves and they'll never be seen again.
However, as the song progresses, they come to the realization that hiding is not the answer. The lyrics "hiding's not the way" express this sentiment. The singer acknowledges that they have been wrong about hiding and that they need to confront their personal flaws head-on. They go on to say that they will no longer focus on what has passed, meaning they will not dwell on their past mistakes but strive forward to seek the truth in every aspect of their life.
In the final lines of the song, the singer makes it clear that they will seek the truth no matter what. They will not hide anything or sweep their flaws under the rug anymore. Instead, they will face their trials head-on and seek out the truth in every situation they encounter.
