The band had gone through numerous line-up changes over the years, but singer Ryan Kepke and Joe Nixon (drums) performed on every release, while Jeremiah Brown (bass) played on all except their final album, Far From Nowhere. This was their first release without Tooth and Nail Records, which they left, not for religious reasons, but merely because their contract had finished and the band felt the need for a change. Far From Nowhere was released on SideOneDummy Records in the summer of 2003.
The band was particularly successful in the Christian punk scene in the late 90s and early 2000s and toured alongside their peers, both secular and Christian (most notably bands such as Face to Face and MxPx, respectively). They also played certain legs of the Vans Warped Tour in 2003.

I guess Iæ?¦ scared you lied to me again.
I guess foolish as I am.
I have a weakness for you æ?¶ause once you cared for me.
We all know that you were hurting deep inside.
We canæ?° tell your lifeæ?¯ regret is killing you.
We never have the time to straighten out lines between you and I and if,
If I saw you die.
We all know that time is the only thing between us.
We canæ?° tell that only god can help us work it out.
The lyrics in Slick Shoes's song "I Guess" seem to be about the singer's ongoing struggle with a relationship that has been filled with lies and pain. The singer admits that they have been foolish to be drawn back into this relationship despite the past hurts inflicted by the other person. However, the singer also admits to having a weakness for this person because they once cared for them.
The song references the fact that the other person was hurting deep inside, but the singer and their friends never had the chance to straighten out the lines between them. The singer seems to be haunted by the possibility that if the other person were to die, they would not feel any remorse or shed any tears because of the hurtful things that were said between them.
Despite the difficulties in their relationship, the singer acknowledges that time is the only thing between them and the possibility for healing. While others may not be able to help them work things out, the singer places their hope in God to bring resolution to their situation.
Overall, the song expresses the complicated and often painful nature of relationships, and the struggle to find hope and resolution in the midst of hurt.
