Slipknot is well known for its attention-grabbing image, aggressive style of music, and energetic and chaotic live shows. The band rapidly rose to fame following the release of their eponymous debut album in 1999. The 2001 follow-up album, Iowa, although darker in tone, made the band more popular. After a brief hiatus, Slipknot returned in 2004 with Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses, before going on another hiatus and returning in 2008 with its fourth album, All Hope Is Gone, which debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart. After another long hiatus, Slipknot released its fifth studio album, .5: The Gray Chapter, in 2014. Their sixth studio album, We Are Not Your Kind, was released on August 9, 2019. Their seventh studio album, The End, So Far, was released on September 30, 2022. The band has released two live albums titled 9.0: Live and Day of the Gusano: Live in Mexico, a compilation album titled Antennas to Hell, and five live DVDs. The band has sold 30 million records worldwide.

Slipknot Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
This song is for the dead
With my face against the floor
I can't see who knocked me out of the way
I don't want to get back up
But I have to, so it might as well be today
Nothing appeals to me, no one feels like me
I'm in no shape to be alone
Contrary to the shit that you might hear
So walk with me, walk with me
Don't let this symbolism kill your heart
Walk with me, walk with me
Just like we should have done right from the start
Walk with me, walk with me
Don't let this fucking world tear you apart
The lyrics to Slipknot's song XIX are a commentary on the mindset of someone who has been beaten down, both physically and emotionally. The line "This song is not for the living, this song is for the dead" sets the tone for the rest of the song, indicating that the singer feels disconnected from the living world. The line "With my face against the floor, I can't see who knocked me out of the way" represents the physical violence that the singer has experienced, while the line "I'm too busy being calm to disappear" suggests that the singer is trying to keep their emotions in check in order to avoid total collapse.
The chorus of the song offers a message of hope, as the singer encourages the listener to "walk with me" and not let the difficulties of life tear them apart. This is an important message for anyone who feels like they are struggling to stay afloat in a world that seems to be increasingly hostile and unforgiving. Overall, the lyrics to XIX are a powerful commentary on the human experience and the struggle to maintain a sense of hope and purpose in the face of adversity.
