1. Sloppy Seconds… Read Full Bio ↴There are two bands using the name Sloppy Seconds.
1. Sloppy Seconds are a Punk Rock band from Indianapolis. Their story began in 1985 at a weekend-long house party when singer B.A., bassist Bo'ba Jam, drummer Steve Sloppy, and guitarist Danny Roadkill (later replaced by Ace Hardwhere) set down their beers long enough to massacre a few cover tunes and wake up their neighbors.
After a short spell honing their original material and live intensity, the Sloppys released the debut album "Destroyed" in 1990. With each new release they have carved out a niche that targets themes close to their hearts: porn stars, parties, junk food, TV re-runs, beer blasts, comic books, strippers, B-Movies, 70's nostalgia, 80's cynicism, and 90's complacency.
2. Sloppy Seconds are a pair of non-dimensional time rabbits who strive to disolve notions of time and space through a 'sonic smudge' of intense noise coupled with visceral performance rituals. Named 1.7 and 5.2, these two rabbits deal with ideas of serialisation, subjectivity, shamanism, and quantum ontology, with a focus on creating a conflict and resolution within individual audience members regarding everything they believe to be true. Individual appearences are always different in form, but this simple thread of destroying time and space is present in all of their performances. Actions to date have included the smashing of clocks, the folding of paper, the defacing of maps, etc. Their sound has been compared to the likes of Drums Not Dead-era Liars, Lightning Bolt, Boredoms etc.
Active primarily in London, UK, they released Spit or Swallow? on Colour Ride in late 2008 and have played with Talibam!, Clunes, Horse Vomit, BBBlood, Team Brick, Cementimental, Kong, Selfish Cunt and others.

I'm standing here outside your door
I hate to wake you up to say goodbye
But the dawn is breaking, it's early morn
The taxi's waiting, he's blowin' his horn
Already I'm so lonesome I could die
So kiss me and smile for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
I'm leaving on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go
There's so many times I let you down
So many times I've played around
I tell you now, they don't mean a thing
'Cause every place I go, I'll think of you
Every song I sing, I'll sing for you
When I come back, you'll wear my wedding ring
So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
I'm leaving on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go
Now's the time that I must leave you
One more time, just let me kiss you
Hold you close and I'll be on my way
Think about the days to come
When I won't leave you all alone
About the times that I won't have to say
Just kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
I'm leaving on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go
I'm leaving on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go
I hate to go
The song "Leaving on a Jet Plane" by Sloppy Seconds is a cover of the original song by John Denver. The song is about a man who is leaving his loved one behind to go on a trip. He is sad to leave her but is also looking forward to coming back to her. The song has a simple and straightforward message that is easy to understand and relate to.
The first verse sets the scene for the listener. The singer has packed his bags and is standing outside the door of his loved one. He is reluctant to wake her up to say goodbye because it is very early in the morning. The taxi is waiting for him outside and he is already feeling lonely. The second verse is where he asks his loved one to kiss him goodbye and smile for him. He asks her to tell him that she will wait for him and hold him tight.
In the third verse, he reminisces about the times he has let her down but reassures her that every place he goes and every song he sings will be for her. He promises to come back and marry her. The final verse is the departure where he kisses her one last time and tells her to think about the days to come when he won't have to leave her all alone. He is sad to leave her but is looking forward to the day he can return to her.
Overall, "Leaving on a Jet Plane" is a touching song that captures the emotions of a man who is leaving his loved one behind to go on a trip. It depicts the pain of separation and the promise of return, which are feelings that many people can relate to.
