The band relocated to San Francisco, California in 1990 in hopes of resurrecting the ailing 'true metal' scene in the United States. The band quickly gained a reputation as, 'The band San Francisco loved to hate' by taking a stand against the trends and incorporating stage savagery with strong visual imagery.
Three demos were produced by the band in the early to mid-nineties. These were followed up by a self-produced, self-titled debut CD released in 1996.
Scoring points for originality in the European underground, they aroused the interest of Dragonheart in 1998 and 'Twilight of the Idols' was released in 1999 on Dragonheart Records. This was followed by, 'Down Among the Deadmen' released in the year 2000, and 'Traveller' in 2003.
The band moved to underground Italian label, Cruz Del Sur in 2005 and shortened their name to simply, 'Slough Feg' with the release of 'Atavism'. 2007 Brought the dawn of 'Hardworlder' which shows the band has no signs of slowing.

The Hunchback Of Notre Doom
Slough Feg Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Paying for my crime
Born into exile
Servant to its chime
Beware the gypsy's kiss
Sermon to us all
Cathedral's dark abyss
Summons her to fall
Born in the bell tower
Ringing only lies
Despotic sacrament
In the Vicar's eyes
I roam the halls back-bent
Silent, vacant room
A lonely malcontent
Ringing in his doom
The song "The Hunchback of Notre Doom" by Slough Feg is a narrative that tells the story of a hunchback who lives in the bell tower of the Cathedral of Notre Dame. The lyrics describe the hunchback's loneliness and isolation as he pays for a crime he committed, which led him to be born into exile and serve the cathedral as its bellringer. He warns of the danger of the gypsy's kiss and the cathedral's dark abyss, which would summon her to fall. The hunchback's story is filled with sadness and despair, as he describes himself as a lonely malcontent, roaming the halls with a back-bent, ringing in his doom.
The song's lyrics are inspired by the novel "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" by Victor Hugo, which tells the story of Quasimodo, a hunchback bellringer at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. The lyrics capture the same mood and atmosphere of the novel, which delves into themes of isolation, persecution, and the struggle against injustice. The song's dark imagery and haunting melody evoke a sense of hopelessness, as if the hunchback's fate is sealed and he is doomed to suffer for eternity.
