05.Here She Comes
Slowdive Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It's so lonely in this place
So cold I don't believe
And as no-one knows my name
It's easy to pretend
It's easy to believe
There's a shadow on my wall
It dances like my soul
Dances like my soul
It's so cold now

I swear it will be warm
Here she come now

Overall Meaning

These lyrics paint a picture of isolation and disconnection. The singer feels lonely and cold, both physically and emotionally. They are anonymous in this place, which makes it easy to pretend and believe in things that may not be true. The shadow on the wall is a metaphor for the singer's inner turmoil, which dances around like their soul. The last line, "Here she comes now," is like a glimmer of hope, a possibility for connection and warmth.

Man, several years after discovering this album and it is still life-changing and awe-inspiring. I guess what I'm trying to say is Souvlaki's messed up world still thrills me.

Slowdive really did an outstanding job with the guitars on Souvlaki, particularly on this song. Some of the most transcendent and heavenly guitars that I've ever heard, with some really mind-bending usage of effects.

She still dominates my nights. I think about her all the time. Here she come now. I promise I won't let love kill anyone else.

“it’s so cold now. i swear it will be warm. here she comes now.” these lyrics are such a beautiful symbolism for death.

I hate and love this kind of music for making me feel both happy and down. A bit conflicted, but in the end i guess i love it. Yes, i do
