Alison
Slowdive Lyrics

Listen close, and don't be stoned
I'll be here in the morning
Cause I'm just floating
Your cigarette still burns
Your messed-up world will thrill me
Alison, I'm lost
Alison, I said we're sinking
There's nothing here but that's okay
Outside your room, your only sister's spinning
But she lies, tells me she's just fine
I guess she's out there somewhere
And the sailors they strike poses
TV covered walls, and so slowly
With your talking and your pills
Your messed-up life still thrills me
Alison, I'm lost
Alison, I'll drink your wine
I wear your clothes, when we're both high
Alison, I said we're sinking
But you laugh and tells me it's just fine
I guess she's out there somewhere

@Lalit Thapatrust me, here the only thing we're famous for is nickelback, how pathetic is that lol, is why i'm so gald, and proud that i was born and raised in Vancouver until i moved to edmonton when i was 5, and have lived here since because of being stuck here in a "it's a wonderful life" scenerio of why i'm forced to stay here, everything i know is here, the only gf i've ever had and only women who has ever loved me is here, she has schizophrenia so other places or countries are differential in how they'd handle her condition, hell, even the police here would simply shoot her in the face solely based on her being "crazy", if per se i called 911 because she was having a psychotic episode and i wanted them to neutralize her and have her hospitalized for the 5th time now, then the system just murdered my gf and i'd have no reason to still be here because no women would ever love me as much as she did, and no person could ever care about me the same way she always has whenever she's stable and not having a schizo induced episode or meth induced episode

@Lalit Thapa music is the universal language, the language of the soul when the proper words can't come out

@stan bolkowy yeah.I also feel now like the spinning can be taken as drugs use which will further show how the idea of allison is so hidden under everything that you can only hope she's out there somewhere.
I was into instruments too(Was a drummer a although for only like 3 years,I focus more on art now).
And my town (Darjeeling)has a good music scene but you can't really make it that big out here.
And 100℅ right on the music part.Music connects so many people and can convey so many things sometimes without even saying anything.Just instruments playing alone can tell a thousand lyrics.I started listening to some classical and its just amazing how without even a word said, you can feel like the piece is saying something to you.
Music is great.Regardless of genre or language✌✌✌

@Lalit Thapaspot on perception, but to me "spinning" and her being "out there somewhere" could also mean mentally on whatever drug she's on, doesn't always have to be literal, my gf(and only gf i've ever had)of 6 yrs has been out there "spinning" the bat on and off for the last 4 years, but that's the power that music brings, how it's able to draw emotions out of people for different reasons, i'm a guitar player, been playing for 10 yrs, write my own stuff, but have never been able to join or form a band because i live in alberta, sure tegan and sara came from calgary but their the only exception, nothing but nickelback orientated rock/country music here locally, just the fact that nickelback is from alberta makes me so happy i was born in vancouver originally

I cannot understand why critics hated everything they did during their time. These songs are incredible. Those idiots are responsible for this band flaming out before they should have.

softlightsymphony [band]

@Matt Cunningham Mazzy was never “huge” in America. They were were popular on college radio and shows like MTV’s 120 minutes (one of the few places to hear bands like Mazzy and Cocteau twins) and that show was on cable television once a week on Sunday night at midnight which is perhaps the most isolated time slot they could have possibly been banished to. The average person back then had no idea who Cocteau twins were and maybe heard fade into you once or twice (it for some radio play but no other tracks from them did outside of college/alternative radio which catered to a very small demographic) but probably couldn’t actually name the band and didn’t own the album.

And we didn’t consider Mazzy a shoegaze band back then. They were country influenced stoner rock that had more in common with galaxie 500 and perhaps the JAMC, etc.

dread knot

mindless sheep's couldn't break they're old habit outta their comfort zone box, the producers didn't want to take risk if top 20 billboard didn't make it through and to loose profit also.. hint why all indies bands are on bandcamp they have better control what they want their own music to sound like and not what the producer want the music to sound like.

wholeheartedly agree
