You Need Loving
Small Faces Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning | Line by Line Meaning

I'm gonna pull you in close gonna wrap you up tight
gonna play with the braids that you came here with tonight
I'm gonna hold your face and toast the snow that fell
because friends don't waste wine when there's words to sell

i feel like love is in the kitchen with a culinary eye
I think he's making something special and I'm smart enough to try
if you don't trust yourself for at least one minute each day

well you should trust in this girl cause loving is coming our way

if you can fix me up girl you'll go a long way
if you can fix me up girl you'll go a long way

I'll stand by all this drinking if it helps me through these days
(take my love in these small doses)
It takes a long time just to get this all straight
(take my love in these small doses)
I'll showcase on route 7 when i find the right place
(take my love in these small doses)
It takes a long time just to get this all straight
(take my love in these small doses)
in my mind
this is my free time

because friends don't waste wine when there's words to sell
if you can fix me up girl you'll go a long way
if you can fix me up girl you'll go a long way

I'll stand by all this drinking if it helps me through these days
(take my love in these small doses)
I've spent a long time corresponding in my own way
(take my love in these small doses)
I'll showcase on route 7 when I find the right place
(take my love in these small doses)
It takes a long time just to get this all straight
(take my love in these small doses)
in my mind
this is my free time
to break it all away
spend it all today
spend it all today

it took time then I found you
it took time then I found you

Woah you foolin'
Come and get coolin'
I'm gonna send you right back to school, alright
Make your way down the new side girl
You know how woman, you need lovin', lovin', alright
I know you need lovin' you here, oh yeah, alright

That's right, well I've been yearnin'
Hey baby you've been burnin'
We'll have a fun time, alright
You'll get some lovin'
Cause baby we're gonna excite you
Deep in your heart woman, you need lovin', yeah,
Oh lovin', alright
That's all you need, lovin' baby, yeah, alright

Eeny-meeny-miney-mo
Eeny-meeny-miney-mo
Can't take it no more
I can't monkey and I can't dog
Can't do the monkey, yeah
I said you know how to pony
Mony-baloney, I took you to the flyer
Passed me by
Oh rock your pony
Mashed potato
Said I want to show you
I want to show you
It's alright, it's alright...

Woman you need loving, yeah

SMALL FACES & “YOU NEED LOVING”:

Incredible the singer's voice in the song, which was later copied by the Led Zeppelin singer

If the Small Faces had decent management, they would've been huge in America. They were as good as anybody in 1966.

Three Six Nine

@impalaman9707 They sounded like the Small Faces because they were influenced by them. I'm a big fan of US 60s garage music. There were some great unknown bands, but none of them were in Small Faces' league.
Listen to the way this song swaggers. These guys were a phenomenal band and with Steve Marriott on vocals, they were superlative.

@Electric Sailor Scott Morgan from Ann Arbor's Rationals comes to mind.

@Limpi43 I stand by my statement.

@Limpi43 Cream did Exist in 1966

Steve Marriot was the man. Awesome talent that doesn't get his due.

Rob Jones

A little man with a big, big voice. LZ ripped this track off in no uncertain terms amongst
many and made millions. Stevie and company were ruined by the revolting Don
Arden, and didn't receive a penny. At the peak of their powers, the Small Faces
were fantastic. Steve Marriott was the true definition of a soul singer.

No English rock vocalist of that period ever matched him.
He will always remain a class act.

Adrián Guzmán

That's so true, even Robert Plant himself admitted Marriott was the top unmatched blues singer of their generation and therefore he emulated him

Christian Thwaites

Steve was 19 when he recorded this. Sounds like he had been singing the blues for decades.

VIVIVI

@Abcde “they don’t sell jack daniels in England” then proceeds to say “how the fuck would I know that?” You aren’t too smart are ya?
