I once read the story of somebody's life
I came across someone's life story by chance

I had a few moments to spare
I had some free time to myself

He was a good man who lived with his wife

Busy with family life and responsibilities

There was happiness a lot of weirdness and a sprinkle of tragedy
The story contained various emotions and experiences

I pulled it by chance from a second hand bin
I found the story in a thrift store

But it could've been written just for me
The story resonated with my own life experiences

Because the words came out not twist and shout
The story was serious, not frivolous or lighthearted

Cause that's not what a grown man writes about
Adults don't typically write about trivial matters

That chapter's over, let it blow over
That part of my life is in the past, time to move on

I found that I've become the owner of a brand new book
I have a new perspective on life

I have a good life, not the best, but better than many

But you can't measure these things by weight
Happiness and success aren't determined by material possessions

They either drag you down or they lift you
What you have can either make you happy or unhappy

I don't read between the lines I'm not ready for what I'll find
I prefer to take things as they are, without overanalyzing

I don't believe that love is blind
I don't think love is without flaws

It just can't see straight, it just can't see straight oh yeah
Love can sometimes be confusing

Read all about it, read all about it yeah
Life is full of stories and experiences

I read that book for an hour or two and then I looked up at the night sky
I spent some time reflecting on the story and my own life

I saw the big dipper and then the big bopper and I realised how much time had gone by
The passage of time became more apparent to me

Every page had something to say but one thing that struck me as true
The story had many lessons and insights

The clock just keeps ticking as if you're not there
Time doesn't stop for anyone

Man it either drags you down or it lifts you
What you do with your time can affect your happiness and well-being
