The lyrics of Smitten's song "Mi alma" tell the story of a person who had a powerful dream about someone they deeply feel attracted to. In the dream, they saw the person's eyes and felt that all their senses were overwhelmed by their beauty. The dreamer also feels hope that this person could be with them. However, when they woke up, the dream crashed against reality, and the dreamer is left feeling foolish for still holding onto the hope that the person may return their affection.
Despite recognizing that their love is one-sided and that nothing has really happened to justify it, the dreamer admits that their soul is still filled with illusions about this person. They want to believe that something could happen between them, and this desire brings both happiness and inner turmoil. Even though the person they love may not reciprocate their feelings, the dreamer still finds joy in being around them and cherishing the hope that maybe someday things could change.
Overall, the lyrics of "Mi alma" convey the bittersweet experience of having unrequited love, of dreaming about someone who may never love us back, but finding comfort in the hope that maybe, just maybe, things could turn out differently.
