In "Perdonar," Smitten sings about the process of forgiveness in the face of betrayal and fear. The singer praises the bravery of the person addressed in the song, who faced their fear and overcame the obstacles holding them back. In the first verse, the singer describes the person as having been "brave" and having "fought death" in the "duel of fear." They broke free of their "prison" and regained their courage, a journey that is represented by the choice between "remembering or forgiving." The person in the song then proceeds to "cut the thorns that prevented [them] from living," but this change also brings fear of happiness instead of sadness. The person's expression transformed from "suffering in hell" to "poetic," with their tears changing from red to gray. Yet, the decision of whether to "remember or forgive" remains.
Overall, the song portrays the struggle of trying to make the hard choice between forgiveness and holding onto pain. Through vivid and emotive imagery, Smitten creates an evocative portrait of transformation and perseverance that speaks to the human experience of triumphing over fear.
