The way I feel it slipping all over me
This must be underwater love
The way I feel it
O que que é esse amor, d'água
Deve sentir muito parecido a esse amor
O que que é esse amor, d'água
Esse amor com paixão, ai
Esse amor com paixão, ai que coisa
After the rain comes sun
After the sun comes rain again
After the rain comes sun
After the sun comes rain again
After the rain comes sun
After the sun comes rain again
This must be underwater love
The way I feel it slipping all over me
This must be underwater love
The way I feel it
O que que é esse amor, d'água
Eu sei que eu não quero mais nada
Follow me now
To a place you only dreamt of
Before I came along
When I first saw you
I was deep in clear blue water
The sun was shining
Calling me to come and see you
I touched your soft skin
And you jumped in with your eyes closed
And a smile upon your face
Você vem, você cai
Você vem e cai
E vem aqui pra cá
Porque eu quero te beijar na sua boca
Que coisa louca
Vem aqui pra cá
Eu quero te beijar na sua boca
Ô que boca gostosa
After the rain comes sun
After the sun comes rain again
After the rain comes sun
After the sun comes rain again
Cai, cai e tudo tudo cai
E tudo cai pra lá e pra cá
Pra lá e pra cá
E vamos nadar
E vamos nadar e tudo tudo dá
This must be underwater love
The way I feel it slipping all over me
This must be underwater love
The way I feel it, oh
The lyrics for Smoke City's song "Underwater Love" are a mix of languages, with the main verses in English and a bridge in Portuguese. The song speaks about the intense feeling of love, comparing it to the sensation of being underwater. The repetitive line "This must be underwater love, the way I feel it slipping all over me" evokes a sense of surrendering to this feeling, like being immersed in water.
The bridge in Portuguese translates to "What is this love, of water? It must feel very similar to this love. This love with passion, oh This love with passion, oh what a thing". The use of a different language adds to the dreamlike quality of the song and emphasizes the idea that love can be felt universally, without the limitations of language.
The chorus reiterates that this is indeed underwater love and emphasizes the physical sensation of it "slipping all over me". The later verses describe a meeting between the two lovers, with the singer urging the listener to follow them to a place they've only dreamt of. The image of "deep in clear blue water" adds to the underwater theme and continues to blur the line between reality and a dreamlike state.
Overall, "Underwater Love" is a song that describes the deep and all-encompassing feeling of love, using vivid imagery and a mix of languages to create a dreamlike state that emphasizes the universality of this emotion.

I heard this track on an early morning long-distance bus in 1997, on my way to university, as a first year student, to occupy the dormitory room. The driver was listening to it as he waited in the parking lot for departure. Slowly the bus started moving and the music blended into the noise of the journey. For some reason, the melody stuck with me, but because I didn't understand much English, I couldn't recall any of the lyrics later on to search for the words by a search engine. It came 1998, 1999, 2000, and so on. Mp3, FTP, Warez, and search engines like Lycos, Yahoo already existed. Later, google came along too. Almost every school year, when I had access to the internet for a few hours, I would do a couple of test searches for the word that came to mind from the strange music I heard in the sleepy twilight on the bus at dawn: 'waterloo + mp3'. It was as if the singer had sung in the half-dream of the sleepy morning: where am I going now, is there a point to my journey, is there a point to going to that university? She provided the soundtrack to a journey in a life-movie full of doubts. Of course, the city of Waterloo always came up in an online search, and there was no music track with the title or artist Waterloo... So the years went by, I slowly finished university and started working. One workplace, another, then another one, and so on. Internet access was also available at work most of the time, and I searched again 2-3 times each year, but nothing, nowhere, ever came up with the sleepy tune I heard on the bus at dawn, that the bus driver in his knitted sweater was listening in his tiny cab in the light of a hazelnut-sized bulb. And then came 2006, I remember the year well, because there was a moderate earthquake that year, as I nearly fell out of bed while everything was swaying. One afternoon at work, bored, I googled the elusive but never actually heard search word again. My English must have improved by this time, because I wondered what if it wasn't "waterloo" but "waterlove", although it doesn't make much sense, but maybe it's singing about some kind of physical love, carried out submerged under water... Almost immediately I found the music track in question, and that afternoon, in the empty and sleepy classroom, in the twinkling light of the flickering fluorescent tubes, I was able to relive, now wiser by almost a decade, the experience of the early morning long-distance bus ride 9 years earlier, when I travelled to that bygone university.

I can't describe how much I love this. I've had this same experience with other songs and the way you wrote that was beautiful and made me live through your eyes for a minute. Reading your words and remembering my own experiences made me connect with a complete stranger in a another life for a second. It made me realize that completely different humans who have no idea each other even exists have similar experiences , struggles, etc. You are an amazing writer. If you don't already, you consider just writing as a hobby, I wouldn't be surprised if someone came along and paid you to write.
