Let it Snow
Smokey Robinson and The Miracles Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
But the fire is so delightful
And since we've no place to go
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
It doesn't show signs of stopping
And I've bought some corn for popping
The lights are turned way down low
When we finally kiss goodnight
How I'll hate going out in the storm!
But if you'll really hold me tight
All the way home I'll be warm
The fire is slowly dying
And, my dear, we're still goodbying
But as long as you love me so
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
The song Let it Snow is a love song that describes a cozy scene inside a warm house while snow falls outside. The first verse of the song sets up the scene by describing the weather as "frightful" but the fire inside as "delightful." The singer remarks that they have nowhere else to go and suggests we "let it snow." In the second verse, the singer mentions that the snow doesn't show any signs of stopping, but they've brought some popcorn to pop and they've lowered the lights to create a warm and intimate atmosphere.
In the third and final verse, the singer expresses the potential sorrow of having to say goodbye after the evening is over. However, if their partner holds them tight on the way home, they will be kept warm. The final line of the song, "Let it Snow," is repeated to emphasize the desire to stay in the moment, even though the snow is still falling outside.
Overall, the song is about finding joy and comfort in the midst of a snow storm, and the power of love to keep us warm in difficult situations.

Claudette had such an infectious voice! Truly a catchy version of this classic Christmas tune!

Thanks for posting this. It's great to hear Claudette Robinson's voice. She appeared on the early Miracles recordings. She stopped touring in the early sixties due to health problems. I've seen her on Motown Music specials that crop up on PBS funding raising programs. Still looks and sounds great.

cool! This is one of my favorite Christmas songs and I have been looking for the best version to add to a music playlist on my Christmas channel. It's very nice to have a multi-dimensional video to go with a song than a still picture.
