While touring in Ireland, the discovered the audience would cheer back "Who the Fuck is Alice?". As it turns out , this was a ritual at a Café in Nijmegen (the Netherlands) called "Gompie". The group decided to "cover" this version with comedian Roy Chubby Brown having the honor of yelling "Alice, Who the Fuck is Alice?" during the chorus. Thus, Smokie holds the record as the first group to have a top ten song with the word "fuck" in it.

The song "Nan Li Wan" by Smokie is sung mostly in Chinese, with some lyrics in English. The song talks about a place called Nan Li Wan, which is presumed to be a location in China. The title translates to "South Li Bay," and throughout the song, the singer describes various aspects of the area. The opening lines, "Wah lan der wah er sheng/Tin war lichang ee chang/Chang ee ya chang" are a series of nonsensical sounds that serve as an introduction to the song. The following lines refer to lying down in Nan Li Wan and describe the surroundings of the bay, including the mountains and the people.
The chorus repeats the phrase "Nan Li Wan how dee fang/How dee ya fang," which translates to "Nan Li Wan's good place/good view." The second verse describes the bay's beauty and how time seems to stand still there. The lyrics also touch upon the theme of longing and not being able to visit this place as often as one would like. They mention a person who cannot visit the bay every year, and it emphasizes the yearning for a place that one cannot be present in regularly.
Overall, the lyrics to "Nan Li Wan" paint a picture of a beautiful natural setting that evokes strong emotions and memories for the singer. The song captures the essence of longing for a place that holds great significance to a person, and it does so with an upbeat and melodious composition.
