SWEET DREAMS
Snow Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Sweet dreams of you every night I go through
Why can't I forget you and start my life anew
Instead of having sweet dreams about you

You don't love me it's plain
I should know you'll never wear my name
I should hate you the whole night through
Instead of having sweet dreams about you
[ steel - guitar ]

Sweet dreams of you...
Instead of having sweet dreams about you

Overall Meaning

The opening lyrics of "Sweet Dreams" by Snow highlights the struggle of moving on from a past love. The singer expresses a desire to forget about their past lover and move forward with their life. However, it seems that the memories of their former partner continue to haunt them, as they find themselves dreaming of them every night. The lyrics convey a sense of longing and pain, as the singer seems stuck in a state of emotional limbo.

As the song progresses, the singer acknowledges that their former partner doesn't love them and will never marry them. This realization seemingly intensifies their emotional turmoil, as the singer expresses the desire to hate their ex-lover. Despite this, they find themselves unable to let go completely, and the cycle of sweet dreams about them continues.

Overall, "Sweet Dreams" examines the complexity of moving on from a past relationship. It acknowledges the agony of trying to let go of someone who was once significant but also highlights the difficulty of detaching oneself from the past.

i was born too late for the wonderful and turbulent 60s in 1976, but it has always been my dream to find a secret passageway back to that time. Back to when people cared. When great and inventive music like this was being made. When people cared about each other and not just money, wealth, and greed. The great music would continue for another two decades, but the 60s were a time that ended on a very sad note and we should try to recapture the happiness people felt before their dream was demolished.

Los años 60s y 70s, fueron muy creativos, musicalmente hablando, y habia unos ideales, se respiraba la utopia...... Creo que ya no queda nada de aquellos sueños e ideales..... una lástima..... disfrutemos de lo que aún tenemos..la música
