How are you
SoKo Lyrics

Isn't it the hardest question
To answer to when the only thing
When the only thing you wanna say is BAD
Isn't it the hardest question to answer to
When the only thing you wanna do is cry
Oh it is to hard
And just reply
I am fine
'Cause you know I'm not
You know I'm not
'Cause my eyes don't lie
How are you?
The opening lines of SoKo's song "How Are You?" set the scene for a conversation that may be all too familiar. At some point in our lives, we have all been asked this question, either in passing or by a loved one who genuinely wants to know how we are doing. However, as the song suggests, answering "how are you?" when the only thing we feel is "bad" can be incredibly difficult. The line "isn't it the hardest question to answer to when the only thing you wanna do is cry" captures the heartache and sadness that can come with trying to put a brave face on when we are struggling emotionally.
The following lines delve deeper into this dilemma, describing the difficulty of pretending to be okay when we know we are not. SoKo's anguished voice brings these emotions to life, conveying the sense of frustration and helplessness that can come with trying to hide our true feelings from others. The line "my eyes don't lie" is particularly poignant, suggesting that even though we may smile and say we are fine, our eyes may betray the truth of how we are really feeling.
Ultimately, "How Are You?" is a song that captures the complexity of human emotions and the struggle we all face in trying to be honest with ourselves and others. It speaks to the universal experience of feeling vulnerable and exposed when we open up about our feelings, but also the relief that can come from being truly seen and understood by others. Through its relatable lyrics and powerful vocals, the song reminds us that we are not alone in our struggles and that it is okay to not be okay sometimes.

It's a hard question to answer to even when you're fine. I mean I don't want to talk about how I am because I obviously will say "good" and that's why they ask, they don't really want to know how you are, they just want you to answer "good" and continue, and if you answer "bad" very few people would actually care but most people would ask why do you feel like that.

Pretty sure it's a dialect syncronization technique. Like a sound sample. If you meet a person you don't know, both of you say a pre-defined phrase, like "how are you". Based on the sound sample you can quicly adjust for their dialect and understand next sentences better. They could say " The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" as well, but how are you sticked.
