Their origins lie in the late 2000's when singer/guitarist, Parlin, returned to Massachusetts from San Francisco armed with a wealth of ideas that, with time, brought the group to life.

After serving in a range of Boston acts, including E.R., Get Help and The Spanish Armada (all onThe Beatings' Midriff Records imprint), Parlin cemented the foundations of Soccer Mom when bassist Deveau joined full-time. In due course fellow E.R. sideman and Spanish Armadaprincipal William Scales enlisted as second guitarist, along with Spanish Armada drummerDavid Kaplan.

In 2010, with what they describe as "a collective caesura among the various competing projects", the band reaped well-deserved attention for their debut 7". They have since recorded this breath-taking 6-song EP with Shaun Curran at The Napoleon Complex in Somerville, MA, which they mastered with Eric Baird at Half Son of Audio.The departure ofKaplan in early 2011 left vacant the drum chair for another E.R. cohort, drummer Justin Kehoe, with whom they continue to deliver their blistering live performances.

Soccer Mom's distinct sound emerges from a detailed exploration of intimate connections between contrasting forces. Through melody and dischord, clean tones and chaotic feedback, they find a balance between the referential and the staggeringly new. The vocals are often sparse and quietly deconstruct conventional song structure amidst a whirlwind of dual guitar histrionics.

This hits too far home to me. I grew up all my life without a father. Both of my brothers, 25 and 30, had to help my mom take care of me. She had to sell her own clothes, Jewlery, Purses, and more to provide me with my wants and needs. She used to work 2, or even 3, jobs and we still used to struggle to figure out where our next meal was coming from. Thank you Dhar Man for giving this perspective to everyone!

My school principal and his 2 younger brothers grew up without a dad too. His mom did amazing raising 3 boys on her own, look at them now. He's married to a very sweet woman who's a teacher there, he's a school principal, Math and English teacher, and the school basketball coach. His brothers are teachers at the school too, and his mom is the school lunch lady. My principal's mom is one strong and amazing woman raising 3 boys on her own.

My mom was a single mom for almost all of me and my sibling's childhood because of the abuse my father used to do to us, she had always got shamed for being a single mom and without anyone knowing why she really was single. As a single mother I can unfortunately and honestly say that I have felt so left out and completely judged by the other mothers. However, I eventually realized that it takes a much stronger woman to be both a mother and a father. And the women that looked down on me for being single were insecure and could never do what I do.

All of them are over 35 and I’m not even 30 yet but on the bright side I coach sports and have energy to train the youth while the older married moms are watching. You got this! It takes a strong person to be a mother/father. My oldest always feels some type of way because he’s like mom you look like my sister and everyone doesn’t think your my mom. My mom is a single mom with 3 kids, the younger 2 have learning disabilities and I have suffered with mental health. And my mum’s been able to push through even though she has to work, take care of the house, me and my siblings plus a blind dog. But also housework, cooking, bills, taking us to our activities and also running her Cub group. Plus she has to take of my stepdad because of his medical problems.
So I praise my mom for that and I love her to bits as well.

I'm a 13 year old and my Mom is single. Even though we don't have a man in the house, we manage to get by. So, I feel bad for others that get made fun of for only having one parent around. I feel a little bit different about this video because it hits so close to home.

This is so me and my son right now! Been raising my son alone for 20 months and "soccer mums" are actually really kind to us which is a blessing. I only am looked down on by my son's fathers children and family as I wear old clothes and can't afford to buy my son branded clothing they mock me daily but it's ok

Well I grew up without a dad since I was 4 and now I'm 11 and the only way I got over the whole thing was by my mum's love. She makes me so happy and she raised me and my 7year old brother all by herself! She is the best mother ever

I was raised by a single parent my dad, as unfortunately I lost my to cancer when I 18th months old, and I turned out ok, my dad was my hero until he passed away in November 21. So I only had one parent, and I never ended up on the street so that a pile of c**p. My dad did everything, for both me and my sister and his grandchildren. Single parents are just as good or better sometimes.

This comparing with others thing is so common among Indian parents. They always keep comparing until the child is completely broken down inside, thinking that he/she is so stupid that they cannot get good grades. Ultimately, the student's grades deteriorate over time, and everyone especially the teachers call them failures. Everyone is unique in their own way, and no one deserves to be compared. Keep a note of that, Indian parents!

i just recovered from my fever after crying for 5 hours straight because i watched stories about good dads and i remember my dad who left us when i was 8 years old, and here we go again but I'm so proud of my mom who stand alone just to give all our needs.
