I knew from the first night
And I haven't been the same since
'Cause when we kiss it's like (it's like)
Cherry licorice on my lips
I start to hear music
Don't know how you do this (do this)
But I know I'd love some more
So kiss me some more
You taste just like sugar, my sugar, sugar high
I like it but I shouldn't, so good that I could die
And, oh my God, the sweet paradise with you by my side
Oh baby, say you'll be mine
My sugar, my sugar, sugar high
I like it but I shouldn't, so good that I could die
And, oh my God, the sweet paradise with you by my side
Oh baby, say you'll be mine
My sugar
My mama said, "Careful (careful)
Too much honey makes you lovesick"
I said, "If you say so
But I can't stop thinking 'bout him"
I start to hear music (music)
That I haven't heard before
Don't know how you do it
But I know I'd love some more
So kiss me some more
You taste just like sugar, my sugar, sugar high
I like it but I shouldn't, so good that I could die
And, oh my God, the sweet paradise with you by my side
Oh baby, say you'll be mine
My sugar, my sugar, sugar high (my sugar)
I like it but I shouldn't, so good that I could die (I could die)
And, oh my God, the sweet paradise with you by my side
Oh baby, say you'll be mine
My sugar
(Oh) and every time you leave, you know I miss your face
'Cause I love you, love you, love you, love you, love you, babe
I'm up in cotton candy clouds with you for days
Baby, it's not that bad to crave
Sugar, my sugar, sugar high
I like it but I shouldn't, so good that I could die (I could die)
And, oh my God, the sweet paradise with you by my side
Oh baby, say you'll be mine
My sugar (sugar), my sugar, sugar high
I like it but I shouldn't, so good that I could die
And, oh my God, the sweet paradise with you by my side
Oh baby, say you'll be mine
My sugar
The song "Sugar" by Sofia Carson is an infectious pop track that explores the intoxicating and addictive nature of love. The lyrics describe the immediate connection and strong attraction the singer feels towards someone from the first night they met. The kiss is compared to the taste of cherry licorice on her lips, which evokes a sensation of sweetness and desire.
As the relationship progresses, the singer becomes enthralled by the person's presence, experiencing a newfound sense of joy and a musical awakening. The music they make together is unlike anything she has heard before, and she craves more of it. Despite knowing that indulging in this love might not be the wisest choice, she cannot help but be drawn to it. The singer acknowledges that too much sweetness can make one lovesick, but she is unable to stop thinking about this person.
The chorus of the song emphasizes the addictive nature of this love, comparing it to the taste of sugar and a sugar high. The sweetness is so overwhelming that it feels dangerously good, and the singer acknowledges that it could potentially lead to her downfall. However, the allure of being with this person in a sweet paradise is too tempting to resist. The singer pleads for this person to be hers, despite the knowledge that it may not be the most logical decision.
Overall, "Sugar" is a catchy and relatable song about the thrill and excitement that comes with falling head over heels for someone, even if it may not be the most rational choice. It explores the conflicting emotions of desire, addiction, and the undeniable draw of a passionate connection.
