Si Je T'Avais Pas
Sofia Essaïdi Lyrics

Je verrais le même arbre là-bas
Serais-je heureux sans toi, pourquoi pas?
Rien que d'y penser ça me glace à chaque fois
Mon abri mon toit
J'habite tes bras
Là où me caressent tes doigts
The lyrics in Sofia Essaïdi's song Si Je T'Avais Pas depict a contemplation of what life would be like without the person the singer is addressing. The first stanza establish a curious and uncertain tone, as the singer ponders whether they could still find happiness on their own. The repetition of "Si je t'avais pas" (If I didn't have you) reflects the importance of this person in their life and sets the stage for the existential questioning that follows.
The second stanza delves deeper into the specifics of what life would look like without this person. The line "J'aurais des enfants, mais pas ceux-là" (I would have children, but not these ones) highlights the uniqueness of the current relationship and demonstrates the singer's acknowledgement of the irreplaceable nature of this person. This is further underscored by the admission that they would kiss distractedly instead of the passionate way they did with this person. The repetition of "Que serais-je, où ça?" (What would I be, where would I be?) reflects the singer's grappling with the possible void that would be left without this person.
