so the first "mind read" with carrot is word association. I personally said broccoli but that's because I know this trick.. most people immediately jump to carrot and are already thinking of the word "eight" from the question what's 4+4 which may contribute to the similarity since eight and carrot end with the same sound but overall I feel the math is just a distraction.

For the second one, the equation here is (((A x 2) + 8) / 2) - A which if you start expanding the brackets leads to ((2A + 8) / 2) - A and then (A + 4) - A, the As cancel out and no matter what number you start with you end up with 4... it's better to add more steps to these kinds of mentalism tricks because that one with only 4 steps to it was really easy to follow.

For the "name guessing" trick, same premise as the second one.

((2A+3) x 5) - 6
which leads to (10A + 15) - 6
and thus 10A + 9
whenever you multiply something by 10 you just stick a 0 at the end of it then add 9, then you're instructed to write down the numbers to the left of the 9... so if you started with M aka 13, multiply by 10 gives 130 add 9 gives 139, take the numbers to the left of the 9 gives 13, backj to square 1.

who's fooled by this? it's neat but it's no trick or magic.

So for 4:51: It really depends on what pages share a side. If page 7 was printed on the front side of page 8, then one page was torn out. But if page 7 was printed on the backside of page 6, and page 8 was printed on the front side of page 9, then 2 pages were torn out. This could happen for any of these pairs, so it just depends on the format of the book.

There's more to this as well! I'm too lazy to retype my comment so here it is explaining everything.

This guy fucked up on the "torn pages" part. Saying the pages are double sided so despite the 6 numbers it's only 3. BUT not every one of the numbers listed belongs to the same page as one of the other numbers. 7 and 8 do. 100 is NOT connected to 101! Neither is 222 and 223! 101 shares a page with 102. 222 shares a page with 221. 223 shares a page with 224. This also changes completely based on non numbered pages at the beginning or end of the book which could dictate what side of the page the numbers start.

For anyone who got caught in the trick with the name, any number 1-26 that you add 3 to, multiply by 5, and subtract 5 will ALWAYS end with a 9. It’s a trick that’s hard to explain but once you get it yourself, it seems so dumb lol. He just had to put the same chart at the end. There was nothing confusing about it, some people jus don’t process it like others.

You thinking in a good way, but this answer is wrong too. We don't know that only these is on the same piece of paper. In your case the answer is 4, but if we say 222, 223; 100, 101 is on other piece of paper and 7 and 8 is on the same piece we get 5 pages. We don' t know side, where book starts. So we can take the average of this answers and get 4,5 pages. ( (4+5)/2 = 4,5 ).

4:50, i would like to actually argue against this. In a book with double sided pages, the odd number is usually the number on the lower face of the page. For example Page 100 will be with page 99 not page 101 and page 223 would be with page 224 not 222

For the read your mind number one it will always be 4 the reason why is because when you double your number add 8 then you divide it by 2 it's getting you down to your number that you had at the beginning except there's four more than your number that you had at the beginning and then when you subtract the number you had at first it's basically just dividing 8 by 2. ( Which is 4. )

Basic Decryption of the finale "guess your name" trick:
The number you get after following the steps is always its multiple of 10 + 9
So 1*10+9=19 and you take the 1
2*10+9=29 and you take the 2
and so on...
Basically you get (n*10)+9 every time and as such, since the second digit (9) is ignored you just get "n" as a result
