Rise Up
Softball Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Oneself in the future.
It's a winner,is it?
Oneself in the future.
It's a loser,is it?
Oneself in the future.
It's a winner,is it?

Oneself in the future.
It's a winner,is it?

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Softball's song Rise Up explores the concept of self-reflection and the idea of one's perception of themselves in the future as either a winner or loser. The song begins with the lines "Oneself in the future. It's a winner, is it? Oneself in the future. It's a loser, is it?" The singer is asking themselves if they will be successful or a failure in the future. They then suggest that the listener should open their eyes and question whether they truly see what is going on around them. The world they see may be mundane and uninteresting, but the truth is beginning to warp.

The chorus of the song serves as a call to arms for the listener to find the courage to think deeply about their future. They suggest that something will become clear, and this realization will potentially lead to a change in the listener's world. They warn that the listener will recognize their foolishness when they gain this understanding, but at that point, it will be too late. The second verse of the song suggests that an individual might be blind to the truths around them, controlled by a stagnant perspective. The song concludes by repeating the opening lines of the song, asking whether the listener in the future will be a winner or loser.

Thank you so much I’m playing a team tomorrow depending on if I go to the championship or not and they have really good pitchers so I needed some help this really helped thank you

Hey Amanda , this is not how I pictured tossing a riseball. The other thing? I played HS baseball , and after let's say college, played in a men's fastpitch softball league. So I hit against a riseball and it is 100% the equivalent to the baseball pitch that fools major league players on a regular basis. Myself I just laid off it , most often it was out of the strike zone. Appreciate the flic.

I'm actually a submarine pitcher and I need a rise ball in my arsenal. I found this helpful 🙂

Man a rise ball is impossible to hit. I believe it is one of the hardest pitches to hit

@scarrleeporter

The problem I had with this was the release, i kept releasing it like a screwball, but the when you said doorknob it sort of just clicked. Thank you!

@jprg1966

What's funny is that a riseball in softball is thrown the same way as a curveball in baseball (as far as wrist action and release). The difference in movement is only because of the release angle.
