Running your mouth like the words you spit make you
You think your best is better than mine
You think your best is better than mine
Well I got you, now I own you
The look in your eyes, the fear betrays you
You think your best is better than mine
Son, nobody's best is better than mine
All my life leading up to this moment
All my life chasing these dreams
Well I got you, now I own you
Nobody's best is better than mine
Fist in the dirt, yeah this is gonna hurt
This is my time, gonna lay it on the line
All my life leading up to this moment
Hit the lights, showtime, it's my time...
Your weakness, my strength
A strength of name and a strength of number
You think your best is better than mine
You think your best is better than mine
When I'm under, I'll roll you over
When I'm over you know I'll smash you under
You think your best is better than mine
Son, nobody's best is better than mine
All my life leading up to this moment
All my life chasing these dreams
Well I got you, now I own you
Nobody's best is better than mine
Fist in the dirt, yeah this is gonna hurt
This is my time, gonna lay it on the line
All my life leading up to this moment
Hit the lights, showtime, it's my time...
Fist in the dirt, yeah this is gonna hurt
This is my time, gonna lay it on the line
All my life leading up to this moment
Hit the lights, showtime, it's my time...
It's my time, it's my time
At my worst I'm better than you
At my worst I'm better than you
At my worst I'm better than you
At my worst I'm better than you
Nobody's best is better than mine
At my worst I'm better than you
At my worst I'm better than you
At my worst I'm better than you
Nobody's best is better than mine
Fist in the dirt, yeah this is gonna hurt
This is my time, gonna lay it on the line
All my life leading up to this moment
Hit the lights, showtime, it's my time...
Fist in the dirt, yeah this is gonna hurt
This is my time, gonna lay it on the line
All my life leading up to this moment
Hit the lights, showtime, it's my time...
It's my time, it's my time
Nobody's best is better than mine
The lyrics to SOiL's "My Time" tell a story of empowerment and self-assurance. The singer clearly feels superior to the person they are addressing, stating that even at their worst, they are still better than the other person. The repeated refrain of "nobody's best is better than mine" serves as a reminder that the singer is in control and should be respected.
The verses seem to be addressing a specific person who has "betrayed" the singer and is now being punished for their actions. The singer owns this person now and has them under their control. There is a sense of vindictiveness in the lyrics, with the singer relishing the idea of hurting their opponent and laying it all on the line. The chorus suggests that all of the singer's life has led up to this moment, and they are going to make it count.
Overall, the lyrics are about standing up for oneself and proclaiming one's superiority over others. There is a sense of aggression and defiance in the tone, with the singer determined to come out on top no matter what.
