In 2007, Knowles began to record music again. Her second studio album Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams (2008) deviated from the pop-oriented music of her debut to Motown-inspired sounds from the 60's and 70's. It peaked at number nine on the US Billboard 200 and received positive reviews from critics. She followed this up with the 1980s pop and R&B-inspired EP True (2012) on Terrible Records and her imprint Saint Records. Her third studio album, A Seat at the Table (2016) was released to widespread critical acclaim and became her first number-one album in the United States. The album's lead single, "Cranes in the Sky" won the Grammy for Best R&B Performance. Her fourth studio album, When I Get Home, was released in March 2019 to further critical acclaim.
Knowles was heavily influenced by Motown girl groups and says that her first passion is songwriting. Frequently compared by the media to her sister Beyoncé, Knowles has claimed that they have different aspirations and are musically different. She has been ranked by Billboard as the 100th most successful dance artist of all-time, and in 2017 was honored with the "Impact Award" at Billboard Women in Music. Her other ventures include an endorsement deal with Rimmel London and a line of hip-hop-oriented merchandise for young children.

Let's go, let's go, let's go look for magic, yeah
They not gon' get it from the get go, get go, get go, get go
Don't let, don't let, don't let anybody steal your magic, yeah
But I got so much y'all
You can
Interpreting the lyrics to Solange's song "So Be It," there are a few themes to explore. First, the repetition of "get go" throughout the chorus could be interpreted as a call to action - to start something or to take initiative from the very beginning. The idea of seeking magic aligns with the overall theme of the album the song appears on ("A Seat at the Table"), which centers around Black joy and resilience in the face of systemic oppression. Magic can represent anything from joy, hope, and creativity to a transcendence of the limitations placed on Black folks in society.
The line "They not gon' get it from the get go" implies that some people may not understand the need for and value of seeking magic, but the song encourages the listener to hold on to it anyway. The next line, "Don't let, don't let, don't let anybody steal your magic," emphasizes the importance of protecting oneself and one's joy from outside forces that may seek to diminish or extinguish it.
The final line, "But I got so much y'all," could be interpreted as a rallying cry or a statement of confidence. The singer has so much magic, so much joy and resilience, that they are willing and able to share it with others. Overall, the song is a celebration of Black joy and resilience, and a call to action for listeners to seek and protect the magic that brings joy and hope to their lives.
